Bedford Park taxpayers sign 2 year agreement
InTheDriversSeat replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No, the article indicates: "The Village will be the presenting partner of three of the team's "Free T-Shirt Thursdays" promotional nights". But the Sox website lists 4 dates: June 9th, June 30th, and July 21st, and September 15th. Therefore on 5 dates, the presenting partner will be something different. Also, Bedford Park is sponsoring fireworks on Friday, May 20th. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/schedule/p...ns.jsp?c_id=cws . -

I am sad to report the recent passing of Sox fan Gary Loizzo, vocalist for the late 60's Chicago based group 'The American Breed'. The group is best known for the hit single 'Bend Me, Shape Me'. In the 90's, The American Breed had reformed in the 90's to record 'Rock with the SOX!' which was released independently on cassette. The song was re-issued again in 2005 as a CD single. For many years, Gary was the sound engineer for Styx in the studio and on tour. After The American Breed broke up in 1970, 2 other members moved on to form the group Rufus. The hit song 'Tell Me Something Good' by Rufus is often heard at U.S. Cellular Field during Replay Reviews. My thoughts and prayers are with Gary's family and friends. http://www.colonialchapel.com/book-of-memo...ry/obituary.php http://abcnewsradioonline.com/music-news/2...ary-loizzo.html http://ultimateclassicrock.com/gary-loizzo-dies/ .

Sad to report the passing of Jim O'Toole on the day after Christmas. Jim was from the southside of Chicago, and he was best known for his 9 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds. He was the starting pitcher for National League in the 1963 All Star Game. Jim was traded to his hometown team, the White Sox prior to the 1967 season. Jim's younger brother, Dennis also pitched in the Sox organization 1967-1973. http://www.wcpo.com/sports/baseball/reds/r...oole-dead-at-78 http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/jim...s-78-1.11269064 My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. O'Toole's family and friends .

Glen Rosenbaum was recently interviewed by the Post-Tribune of Northwest Indiana. Nice photo of the Sox 1972 coaching staff with the old scoreboard in the background. http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/post...1218-story.html Glen pitched 11 seasons in the minors 1955-1965 prior to joining the Sox coaching staff and front office. http://www.baseball-reference.com/register...id=rosenb001gle .

None. Just over 1 year ago, Tribune Media CEO Peter Liguori, decided that WGN America will no longer carry any local Chicago sports or news. Reason is that he wanted to make WGN America more like TBS, TNT, USA Network, etc. WGN News is streamed worldwide on the internet, however with sports highlites blacked out. Even if Tribune was to change their mind, likely the rights fees paid would be much higher. Previously, I believe WGN was paying just for the local broadcast rights but getting nationwide coverage. Not sure. But in order for Sox fans to receive the games live on MLB.tv or MLB Extra Innings, viewers must be located outside of the Sox zone (all of Iowa, most of Illinois & Indiana, small parts of Wisconsin) https://cdn2.vox-cdn.com/uploads/chorus_ass...torialmap.0.jpg .

This is great news for Sox fans in Central Indiana. Channel 8 WISH-TV (The CW) or sister station Channel 23 WNDY-TV (my network TV) will air the complete package of 55 Sox games produced by WGN Sports in 2016 on free television. http://wishtv.com/2016/01/08/cubs-white-so...-games-in-2016/ Last season, just 12 Sox games aired Sunday afternoons in Indianapolis on Channel 8. For 2016 I suspect weekend games will air on Channel 8, and so CW programming is not pre-empted, weekday games will air on Channel 23. .

Who will the next TV PBP be to split duties with Hawk?

I know this thread is from a couple years ago, but another movie not originally listed is the 1983 comedy 'Watch It'. Apparently a short scene is filmed in the outfield seats at new Comiskey Park showing a couple having a discussion while attending a game. 'Watch It' is airing on Friday morning, November 13th, 2015, on 'this' at 5:00 AM Central. 'this' airs in the Chicago area on WGN-TV Channel 9-3 using an antenna, or on cable (Comcast Channel 354, and other systems) but not satellite. http://chicago.thistv.com/view/movie/2122/Watch%20It http://chicago.thistv.com (refer to grid on lower right for channel numbers for various cable systems in the Chicago area) 'this' is also airing 'Eight Men Out' tonight (actually Monday morning, November 9th, 2015) at 1:00 AM Central. http://chicago.thistv.com/view/movie/587/Eight%20Men%20Out For viewers located outside of the Chicago area, 'this' is available nationwide in the markets / tv stations shown at this link: http://www.rabbitears.info/search.php?requ...network=This+TV By the way, 'Eight Men Out' is also airing later this month on MLB Network's Bleacher Features on the following days: Saturday, November 14th, 2015, 4:00 PM Central Sunday, November 15th, 2015, 11:00 AM Central And 'Mr. Baseball' starring Frank Thomas wearing a Yankees uniform is airing on MLB Network's Bleacher Features on the following days: Friday, November 13th, 2015, 8:00 PM Central Sunday, November 15th, 2015, 5:00 PM Central Monday, November 16th, 2015, 8:00 PM Central http://m.mlb.com/network/shows/?id=bleacher_features .

First airing of White Sox Weekly on WLS Saturday
InTheDriversSeat replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Not true. I'm located north of Lake-Cook Road, but in the center of Lake County and WLS comes in just fine. Listeners in the far north suburbs will notice that WLS has a weaker signal that Chicago's other major AM stations, but WLS is still listenable. The reason is that the transmitting tower of WLS is located at far south-suburban Tinley Park, while the towers of the other stations are more centrally located: 670 WSCR (Bloomingdale), 720 WGN (Itasca / Elk Grove Village), 780 WBBM (Itasca / Elk Grove Village), 1000 WMVP (Downers Grove). There are things that you can do to improve reception of Sox games next season. First, buy a better radio. Most radios sold nowadays are junk, but there are some exceptions. 2 radios to consider are: C. Crane CCRadio-EP or RCA Superadio. http://www.ccrane.com/CCRadio-EP-AMFM-Portable-Radio http://www.amazon.com/RCA-RP7887-Super-Radio-3/dp/B00120WRSU The RCA Superadio can improve reception, and also can make an AM station sound as good as FM by selecting 2 switches after a station is tuned. Second, make certain that the home or building that you are located at has all dimmer switches turned off. Lights or lamps having dimmer switches will cause loud, irritating buzzing sounds heard on any AM radio. Also, keep the radio far away from other electrical products: TV's, computers, cell phones, microwave ovens, fluorescent lights, power lines, etc. Third, position the radio so the width (front) of the radio is facing the direction of the transmitting tower. AM antennas for most radios are located inside the radio go across the width of the radio. External dipole antennas on most radios are used for FM only, so that antenna does not need to be extended out. A benefit for WLS is that the station does not run the dreadful 'AM HD', which causes a constant hiss in the background and interferes with other stations located on either side of the dial of the offending station. Both WSCR and WBBM run 'AM HD' under corporate mandate from CBS Radio. 'AM HD' also causes a station's audio to be delayed up to 30 seconds after a broadcast actually occurred. Has anyone listened to a Sox game on WSCR and noticed that the play-by-play is about 30 seconds behind the television or in person at the ballpark? . -
First airing of White Sox Weekly on WLS Saturday
InTheDriversSeat replied to InTheDriversSeat's topic in Pale Hose Talk
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/fan_forum/hot_stove.jsp Your welcome. For anyone unable to listen to the show live, previous airings of White Sox Weekly are available at the above link. . -
https://twitter.com/whitesox The first ever White Sox Weekly radio show on 890 WLS will be today, October 10th, starting around 6:30 PM Central after Notre Dame football. As most already know, Chris Rongey is still employed by 670 WSCR The Score, therefore White Sox Weekly on WLS will have a new host. Hosting the first show will be radio newsman / White Sox fan Rob Hart, however Rob is hosting 1 time only and the permanent host has not been announced yet. Scheduled guests are: Rick Hahn, Ed Farmer, and Darrin Jackson. Fans located out of the WLS listening area, should be able to stream the audio at the website of WLS radio or iHeart Radio app.
