  1. Isn't Quintana the anti-Danks when it comes to the Royals?
  2. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) I'm just saying man, he has a tendency to give up these early f***ing runs. Look at what happened Sunday. He just need to pitch better and he has proven he can in the past. He still pitched great overall on Sunday despite the first inning.
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) Would not mind Q being dealt. I'm so glad you're not Rick Hahn.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 12:05 PM) Without looking up stats, it feels like we have played better against good teams for this year, especially outside of the ALC. Record against teams .500 or better outside the ALC this year: 13-12 (that 4-game sweep to the Pirates really hurts) If you include the ALC that falls to 25-33. Record against teams below .500 outside the ALC: 13-8 If you include the ALC it's 17-13.
  5. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 18, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) Regarding a question of a Castro for Samardzija trade, a righteous member of the Chicago media had this to say. Matt Spiegel ‏@MattSpiegel670 3h3 hours ago @Djeenigenburg That's a rarity: A genuinely interesting, viable, and conversation-worthy Cubs-Sox proposal. I bet Cubs would say no first. I don't live in Chicago so I don't know who these characters are, but, good gracious. Ugh, stay far away from Castro. He's bad, and he has a bad contract. His negative WAR would fit right in with all the rest of the guys on this team. This isn't the first year he's hit like s*** either.
  6. Welcome to the board Lip! I've always enjoyed your posts on WSI, glad to see you've joined the community here as well. Good stuff as always.
  7. I hate this offense so much.
  8. Remember when Alexei used to be clutch with RISP?
  9. Should have traded Jeff a few days ago.
  10. God damnit Alexei get the tag down. The ball beat him.
  11. Hawk can be such a tease sometimes
  12. Eaton! He might end up with the second most HRs on the team this year.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) I am aware. I think that has more to do with everyone else playing well under their career norms that Tyler Flowers and Geo Soto being good at baseball. Either would be a fine back-up. Problem is, there are very few good catchers in baseball right now, but I'd certainly like one of the top 10 catching prospects in the game and give him a chance next year than rely on either one of those two for more than back-up duty in 2016. Unlike you, I think we're fine in the OF for now, and we have several internal options at 2B and SS. 3B and C would be my priorities, and SS next. You could maybe upgrade 2 other positions at the same cost it would take to upgrade C. And there's a decent chance those catching prospects don't produce better than Flowers/Soto anyway.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) Since they're playing the Royals, I can't get MLB.tv working, so I can't see what's going on. How's Saladino looked? Has played good D at 3rd and had a very nice bunt single his first AB when he noticed Moustakas playing back.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:34 PM) Just to note again, Catcher is actually the position where the Sox have their 2nd highest fWAR. Tyler Flowers has more fWAR than any of our position player regulars other than Abreu. Maybe you think someone will improve next year at one of those positions, fine, but I certainly wouldn't say "we must find a catcher" or "finding a new catcher is more important than 3b, SS, OF, or 2b". Agree 100%. Our catchers are actually middle of the pack this year. There are much more pressing needs right now.
  16. I really really hope Saladino can hit a little bit. Then suddenly our IF defense looks pretty decent.
  17. Young has no control today. I'll be pissed if we only get 1 off of him.
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:06 PM) Again, how do the Sox plug those holes after they trade a huge asset like Q away for one player? Seems nobody has an answer for that question. The Sox aren't going to continue dipping into FA. So we should only trade Q if we can plug all of our holes with him? I don't understand. If we traded Quintana for Mike Trout we'd still have a bunch of holes, should the Sox not do that trade?
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) Seriously? Because his defense/framing seems pretty bad His framing is actually rated pretty good this year, but that doesn't go into fWAR anyway. We only have 4 positive WAR position players. Abreu: 1.5 Soto: 0.6 Flowers: 0.2 Eaton: 0.1
  20. f*** yeah Soto. Our second best position player by fWAR!
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 17, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Great, one hole has been filled. Now the Sox only need to fill 3B, C, SS, 2B and two starting pitchers but hey, they would have Puig. How do the Sox fill those holes now that one of their top assets are gone? No one said getting Puig instantly plugs all of our holes.
  22. Losing Danks isn't really creating a hole in the rotation. He already is a hole.
  23. f*** you NYC. Such bulls***.
