  1. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Oct 12, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) Because he stunk it up this year. His price should be discounted. He looks like a good Cooper candidate to me, where his value in Chicago is greater than his value in Houston The OP also used a similar example. Better candidates, to me than aging veterans, for whom the price is down because the production is down, with very little chance of recovery. Rarely are they a discount. What is your definition of "buy-low" candidate. I disagree that Martes stunk it up, he performed fine as a 21 year old rookie. ERA wasn’t good but strikeout numbers were strong and he flashed some good potential, no way the Astros would just let him go for scraps, I doubt his price is down much if at all. Especially after just 54 innings.
  2. Well the Dodgers have been given a gift. No excuses to not win the next series, Cubs have a spent pen and will have to start either Lackey or a pitcher on short rest for Games 1 and 2.
  3. Davis threw like 3 pitches in the strike zone that inning. Great job Nats.
  4. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Oct 12, 2017 -> 11:30 PM) You're on the bag or you're not. You can't enforce the rule if being a slight distance off the bag doesn't count. That's what's dumb. Nah, he beat the throw, who cares if his foot comes off the bag a minuscule amount? Enforcing that is just asking for guys to sprain fingers/wrists/ankles/whatever.
  5. I’m a fan of replay in general but the “did his foot come a centimeter off the bag” calls are so dumb
  6. Those kind of calls are such f***ing horses***
  7. And the ump saved a run
  8. Dodgers have to love this.
  9. Never trust a Washington sports team in the playoffs
  10. How much longer do you let Gio pitch?
  11. Albers warming, great...
  12. I read they're 3-17 in their last 20 playoff closeout games, that's really bad. I'm still kind of annoyed at them for helping cause all the nonsense last year so good riddance.
  13. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 10:04 PM) 3 outs away from Yankees advancing... crazy Best bullpen of the playoff teams, 2nd best offense, 2nd best run differential, not really that crazy. They’re just as good as any of the other playoff teams.
  14. Yeah seriously how do you not pull Sabathia after the first two guys reached? I figured he was going to get no leash tonight.
  15. The biggest winners of today are the Dodgers. Lester used for 55 pitches, and you know Scherzer is definitely pitching 2+ innings tomorrow.
  16. The basket coming up huge there.
  17. Would have rather had pretty much anyone else in the lineup up in that situation.
  18. I get the size and stuff argument, but did he really dominate though? A 3.21 ERA, 9.21 K/9 and 1.21 WHIP isn't exactly overwhelming, especially when you compare those numbers to other SEC pitchers like Faedo and Fulmer.
  19. It's one thing to pull Scherzer, but to bring in Solis/Perez instead of Doolittle/Madson? Why did you trade for these relievers if you aren't going to use them in the biggest spots?
  20. Just saw the play, holy hell that was awful.
  21. No run support, bad defense, did Q really ever switch teams?
  22. Sale and Quintana are both pitching at the same time.
  23. Sale's slider is filthy today.
  24. I still don't mind the call, if Verlander threw 3 shutdown innings today and helped the Astros win Game 4 the call looks good, and I think Keuchel looked better than him in their respective starts as well. And Benintendi's HR is a flyout like 95% of the time, that was very weakly hit. I also think their bullpen is a bit overrated and Devenski has not looked the same over the past 6 weeks or so.
