Couldn't hit the guy with a 9 era. Avi 4-49 over last 53? Man what a slump.

Bunting with 2 strikes is dumb for anyone to do. This is the second time I've seen the Sox do this and both have resulted in free outs for the other team. Come on. Engel already had 2 singles, let him swing.

Yeah just like last season. September was a very good month for the team, which led many to believe (myself included) they might surprise and vie for a wildcard spot. Sox are actually above .500 in August...8-7.

Castillo rehabbing in Charlotte
Sometimes I Sometimes I think some of you are on here just to complain. When this team is going deep in the playoffs in 3-5 years yall will still call for Hahn's head or KWs head or whatever. Not every GM is perfect. How the hell was he supposed to know dude was on drugs? Everyone praised this signing the moment it happened. No one knew what Narvaez or Smith would be like this year, and we needed a vet to work with the young pitchers.

Heyman: Eloy/Kopech may not be promoted this year
Same, except if they do wait for service time purposes, I really don't understand what Hahn means when he says to use Moncada and Giolito as blueprints to how these guys will be treated in terms of promotions. Moncada really ready last year to be called up last year, but Kopech and Eloy are. Maybe it's different because Gio and Moncada both already had major league time accrued before being traded to the Sox?

8/16 Games
Kopech final line: 6 IP, 67 of 93 pitches for strikes, 1 run, 7 hits, 9 K, ZERO walks...AGAIN. 1 HBP I suppose...

8/16 Games
He's had a loooongg season. I think he deserves a little leeway to finish off these last few weeks of August. The real Madrigal critiquing can start next season.

Lol what the hell does that even mean

Can we get a Shields rumor?
I agree with this. The Brewers would be a decent option for Shields if they get desparate, and the Sox have actually been making some deals with the Brewers in recent history. They traded Saladino to Milwaukee this year, last year was it Jennings they traded for Cordell? And I think there is one more relatively recent trade they made but I'm not 100% on that one.

8/16 Games
Weird, I could've sworn when I looked at today's pitching matchups yesterday Cease was supposed to pitch today, but now he is slated for tomorrow. Either I saw it wrong or they pushed him back a day for some reason.

OT: Sale
It does make sense, if you think about it. I never said the numbers didn't mean more. I iust said they mean nothing to me lol. All I'm stating here is my personal opinion. You don't have to agree with me. You can dig up all the stats you want. I know that I remember Sale not pitching well often.when something was on the line. I don't have specifics, and I don't feel like taking the time to look up the games to defend my point. So, my argument is invalid I suppose.

Man I hope Abreu is with us still when we are good, and hopefully he is still as good in 2-3 years as he is now. On another note, Matty D is really starting to show me he doesnt have a spot on this team next year.

OT: Sale
Yeah one game that sticks out in my head is blowing one against the Angels late. I think he gave up a grand slam to Trout in like the 8th.

OT: Sale
Doesn't matter All it takes is one hit to screw the game up. 1. lets say You only allow 5 hits in 15 high leverage situations (in 10-15 different games) in, idk, let's say 50 at bats. That's a very low batting average. But all 5 of those hits lost you the game. You still blew 5 games. It doesn't matter how many hits or runners you allow in those situations, it's how many times you allow winning runs to score. It's WHEN you allow the hit(s) to happen, not how many. Those numbers mean nothing to me.

OT: Sale
We'll see how he does in the playoffs and see if he proves me wrong. You are right, I'm not having an objective discussion. I'm going off my memory of Sale sucking it up when it got down to the wire, and doing it often. Lots of late, close game situations where he would fold under pressure. And in recent history he has done the same thing when he was on the big stage. Yeah, his numbers are amazing. Again, I am not denying that. And again, maybe he has grown up in the last 2 years. He is obviously in his prime right now and maybe he has matured. But he needs to prove in the playoffs this year that he can carry the Red Sox to a championship. And, if you want to have the Q discussion, yeah right now he is basically "a guy," but I seem to remember him being just as if not more effective than Sale was in 2016 (which is probably why we got such a great return for him, maybe even better). And I remember actual numbers being shown for that during that time, I just don't know them now nor do I want to take the time to look them up.
