  1. I mean, I think there's a positive talking point all season whether he ends this season in AAA or MLB
  2. It's not really me being personally patient. I'm committed to this rebuild...that's enough patience right there. I think you should call the guy up when he is ready, who knows what it's going to be like come that last year.
  3. But we need to keep him in AAA to get the extra year of control!!! (Rolls eyes)
  4. I doubt it happens. He's currently in Kannapolis, not WS.
  5. I also wonder if other players (free agents) look at the tactics of management as well when making negotiations with other players, and if that is a big deciding factor for who they play for.
  6. Didn't that very thing happen with Kris Bryant? Didn't he file a grievance against the Cubs for this very thing?
  7. They have the money. They can sign these guys to the deals they want/deserve. In Hahn's words, the money will be there when it's time to spend.
  8. Especially Baltimore...they just started committing to the rebuild like yesterday...
  9. Is it really wasting a year of service time though? By the time that time comes around for him to be a free agent, shouldn't the Sox already be competitive? Wouldn't you think he would want to stay and sign an extension? Are we going to do this with all of our prospects? 1 damn year isn't going to make a difference. Bring him up and get the fans excited. Give him a taste of the big leagues. Let him play against the likes of Boston, Cleveland, LA and the Cubs. Let him understand how he needs to prepare in the offseason against Major Leaguers vs Minor Leagues. They should do the same shit with Kopech.
  10. Our outfield in September is going to be nuts...think of all of the options for Ricky to mess around with...Avi, Leury, Delmonico, Eloy (his ass better be up here in September), Palka, Tilson, Engel, LaMarre (I assume), Thompson???...that's 9 potential outfielders!! Avi is the only shoo-in for every day RF, and assuming he is healthy (and doesn't get traded), will play there every day. That only leaves 2 spots, and only Leury, Tilson and Engel can play CF. At least Leury can play the infield...probably going to have to rotate a lot of these guys between LF and DH. September is gonna be nuts I bet.
  11. Thought it would be LaMarre, but I guess he will be the one to go when Avi gets back.
  12. When Delmonico is ready to come back to the bigs, do you send Tilson down to get some more regular at-bats, or does LaMarre bite the bullet? I don't think Palka is going anywhere...he gets some pretty regular at-bats platooning with Davidson at DH and I think his power potential is too valuable at this point...not like it really matters this season.
  13. What's funny is the White Sox won a 3 game series against Boston this year at Fenway...so they can shove it. But in hindsight, they're right lol.
  14. l like the "put down the knife and hang the jersey back up in the closet" bit. That made me literally lol, Question...how exactly do these DL stints work? It seems that, whether in the minors or the majors, these players are placed in the "10 day DL) or whatever but are really out for like 3-4 weeks. I think Hansen was technically on the 7 day DL to start the season...
  15. One really good month of Eloy at AAA, call him up in September, and he's here to stay. That's the best case scenario right now. Hopefully the same with Kopech/Stephens.
  16. What if option B gives you a better opportunity to succeed in the playoffs, in the same window of contention?
  17. Was literally just going to post this. I lol'd when I read it.
  18. I wonder if this news will help get him out of his slump
  19. Better players meaning what? Just curious... I mean, we all know we had "better players" in Adam Eaton, Chris Sale, and even LaRoche. They were direct results of culture issues in that clubhouse. And in my opinion a big reason as to why they didn't succeed, other than the mediocre managing of Ventura among other things. I will say, I fell into the trap this past off-season of believing that this team would surprise people and make a push for the wild card because of their upbeat and close knit clubhouse. I drank the kool-aid of the podcasts and what not. What this season has taught me, is that it takes way more than positive vibes in a clubhouse to win...HOWEVER...until or unless I am proven otherwise,I do think Ricky, however questionable at times with his in-game managing skills, is the right man to set a foundation of winning attitudes and fundamentally sound baseball, which I believe paves the path for championships.
  20. You mean, like not signing players such as Miguel Gonzalez, Hector Rondon, and Hector Santiago? Not that those pitchers are the bulk of our issue, but I think the FO needs to be more intentional about signing pitchers who not only can eat innings when these young'ns faulter, but also those who can, ya know, actually pitch competitively. Next season, barring injuries, I expect a rotation of Giolito, Rodon, Lopez, Kopech, Stephens (in not any specific order). Gonna need some good long relief arms to cover for those young starters when they go through stretches of 3-5 inning starts. Cease starting in AAA and probably comes up later in the season to take either Gio or Stephen's spot. Lineup already looks better with Eloy in it. Moncada-2B Yolmer-3B Abreu-1B Avi-RF Eloy-LF DH (my guess is Davidson/Palka share this position...) Anderson-SS Castillo-C I wish for a free agent CF with Leury and Tilson being our backups, but they probably give Engel another chance. Smith the backup. Unless Narvaez does what he has been doing for the rest of the season. Biggest weaknesses I see for next season: Bullpen, Defense, and growing pains from the starters.
  21. What the hell is wrong with Abreu. It's like he forgot how to hit. What, a month ago he was hitting .300?
  22. Serious issues that they re able to overcome? What would they need to do to overcome those issues? And are they too stubborn to overcome them?
  23. I'm comparing fragility not injury type
  24. Derrek Rose-esque...with less success/experience obviously
  25. We have had great injury luck, and you're right about those other guys making big steps. Just a reminder I suppose you can never have too much depth. It's hard to remember those other positives when the bigger names go down in injuries constantly.
