Minnesota @ Chicago, 5/5/18, Gamethread
Just tuned in. Both teams have 8 hits, except one team has 6 more runs...I'm gonna guess more runners left on base...

Game Thread - Twins @ Sox, 7:10 PM
Some time this year I wanna see Yolmer get a walk off hit then at homeplate the rest of the team dumps Gatorade on themselves. Like every single player.

Well that was nice

So many things wrong on that play. That's the right fielder's ball to pick up, he has the better angle. Then the centerfielder just lobs it in.

That ball doesn't go out on a 40 degree night. Leury player of the game so far.

Just tuned in. Seems like Carson is back to his old self? In other news, looks like a nice crowd on hand. Of course, rarely do the Sox win in front of big crowds.

Main Rivals
I agree on this. There isn't a rivalry until they, and another team from the central, are good for years. Not sure if they will ever have a clear "life-long" rival, like the Yanks and Red Sox, or Giants and Dodgers, or Cubs and Cardinals, but if I had to pick I would say Detroit. I may be biased because I live in Michigan, but even just proximity purposes, Detroit and Chicago probably butt heads more than any other duo in the central. Sox and Royals might be a close 2nd. Maybe if Milwaukee were in the division it might be a different story. With that being said, is there really any other division rivalries in the central?

I get upset when I see an empty stadium, but when the product on the field is this...I guess I can't blame the fans

I love the sound of the ball when it comes off Matt's bat. Unfortunately, with such a small crowd on hand, it's gonna sound like they are on the road when they score in this game...

I swear this team is plagued. Why has there been so many injuries the last 2 seasons? Very disconcerting.

Ichiro is retiring
I read that he isn't "technically" retiring...that he could still play next year (not really sure who would sign him). I think I remember him saying he wanted to play into his 50s...

Eloy Jimenez
The hype around Eloy is real. No doubt about it. But let's forget about hype for a second and look strictly at numbers... In 52 at bats, Eloy is batting .250 (which, to be fair, has been steadily climbing since his return). He has an OBP of .281 (that needs to improve) and a slugging of .519. (.800 ops). Granted, this is only like barely 2 weeks worth of games, and he is coming off an injury, but he isn't exactly dominating the league. Hahn has said over and over again these guys will not be called up to the next level until they have shown they they have nothing else to learn in the current league they are in. No matter how bad the fans want them. The ONLY way I see Eloy being push up to AAA without improving his numbers and dominating the league, is if one of the guys from the Dash get their call for AA. Which could very well happen soon considering what they are doing down there. I'm even of the opinion that Eloy will not be here until September call-ups and will start next year at AAA, to be completely honest.

What's funny about this is they are playing the Twins...and it's supposed to rain all night tonight in Chicago. Like 80% chance starting at 7pm. Are these teams ever gonna play each other again?? Maybe double header tomorrow or Saturday.

White Sox vs Cardinals 5/2/18 12:15PM
I disagree. If he can hone his offspeed and locate it, velocity won't matter. Plenty of historically dominant pitchers with no velocity. Let's also not freak out about his meltdown. He's only 22...plenty to learn.

Just turned into a 1 man show

I am having way too much fun watching Giolito pitch. He has a beautiful curve ball when he controls it. He is mixing his pitches well and location is pinpoint. Hes working quickly. Who cares about velocity when you have deception and control? I prefer that actually. This is probably the best start we have had yet, aside from maybe one of ReyLo's gems...and even ReyLo isn't this efficient.
