Opening Day 4/4/2017 - White Sox vs Tigers

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) No, he looked at a first pitch curve that most wouldn't swing at first pitch then looked at a ball that was called a strike and swung at a ball on an 0-2 count. Big difference between 1-1 and 0-2 I mean, basically what I meant. Not sure what we are disagreeing with here, other than the fact I think a hanging curve should be smashed on any count, regardless if it is the first pitch or not. -

I think the toughest thing for me will be the amount of time the Sox get runners in scoring position but dont get them in. Currently, the Sox have more hits in the game than the tigers do, yet the tigers are leading by 4 runs. Situations like that happened oh too often last year, and the year before. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) That looked like an ugly at bat for TA. Benetti called that first pitch curveball nasty...it was literally a hanger and should have been hit 400 feet. Anderson just watched 2 strikes and swung at a ball...hes gotta get disciplined, especially as a number 2 hitter. Only first game though. -

Listening to 890, they say pre-game ceremonies will take place, no timeframe yet on first pitch. -

QUOTE (daggins @ Mar 21, 2017 -> 06:59 PM) Q Rodon MiGo Shields Holland I think I heard some reporters saying they wanted Rodon to be the 5th day starter. If that's the case and I heard right, then i think Rodon would go to the bottom and it will be Q, MiGo, Shields, Holland, Rodon. Really, does it matter the order they put the rotation in after Q? lol. -
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Mar 20, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Hope it's nothing to do with his new child. That was my first thought...and It's a scary one. As much as I love the guy as a player I would rather this be injury related than something threatening his kid.

This umpire has a soft spot for that outside "zone"

Davidson crushed the ball to center field, almost hit the wall and it's 420 to center there.

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Mar 17, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Not that young. He'll be 28 this summer. Really, did not know that. Thought he was still like 24 or 25

So far, Quintana has tossed a no hitter through 5 innings against the USA team. Around 50 pitches so far. Should they let him continue pitching with his pitch count getting up there? Also, do you think this performance raises his trade value?

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Mar 9, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) Has Yolmer Sanchez been in the organization longer than any other player? I think Q has been here longer but he might be the only one

Davidson, Sanchez, Garcia and Abreu all had nice line drives (Abreu robbed of an rbi single) -
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) "Hahn thought the club truly signaled its direction when it hired manager Rick Renteria and promoted Nick Capra to third-base coach and Curt Hasler to bullpen coach. All three have significant player development roots." You definitely have to have ML coaches who have player development roots on the ML roster when doing a massive rebuild. But it may be more important to also have them at the minor league level where the majority of the development should occur. Hopefully that has or will be addressed especially since the bulk of the young players are not ML ready yet. So does that mean the offering of Robin Ventura a managerial job for the 2017 season was just a publicity stunt, or did they really think they could do a successful rebuild with him at the helm?

Baseball is just a naturally slow paced game, with the occasional roller coaster game. The only way they are going to drastically change anything will be by changing its nature... like having timed innings instead of a certain number of outs, or changing it from 3 outs to 2 our something like that. The game is fine as is. Everyone these days just wants everything to be fast... don't fix something that ain't broke!!

If Avi goes byebye, I believe that Tilson has a starting outfield position next season.
