I was getting a little tired of Jake's injury stuff. But after seeing reaction to his soreness while having the flu, I now feel sorry for him. GO JAKE! JFP!!!
-
I think the flu could be a factor here. People get muscle aches for seemingly no good reason at all and can be less than 100% for weeks. This is in addition to throwing with weakened muscles from a surgically repaired lat. I'm not ready to drag Jake's name through the mud over a little shoulder soreness in spring training when most of us did not expect him to sniff the opening day roster. If anything, I blame the training staff for letting a guy with the flu come back too soon. The blame falls on the Sox. They are in charge of his rehab. They seem a little star struck by him and his competitive personality. Who here didn't think Jake would push himself hard? Of course the Sox should have known that too and forced him to rehab at a reasonable pace.

White Sox vs Dodgers 1st Spring Training Game
103 mph screwball replied to elrockinMT's topic in 2011 Season in Review
I can't wait. I don't care if the Sox lose 15-0 today. I feel lucky it will be on TV. I need spring. -
I would be shocked if KW didn't at least give Cashman a call and try to get "creative". Sox want to move salary to fill holes and have high priced pitching. The Yanks have endless cash, need pitching, and lost out on Lee. This could be interesting. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) If I'm the White Sox and the Yankees want a pitcher from me, I'm making them take my salary. I also want Joba Chamberlain and Brett Gardner. My thoughts are a Floyd + Teahen or Pierre for the two of them. Someone call tell me it is or isn't fair, but that is what I would, at a minimum, ask for. I'd also trade Edwin for Joba/Gardner. Note: I'm not saying the Yanks do this, but s***, if they feel they have a gun to there head, why not try.

I'd say to no to Paul for $15 million. As much as I like Konerko, he is coming off a great year and he his getting older. I expect him to start to decline. I have never been in the clubhouse, but I also wonder if his habit of being hard on himself makes the rest of the team tight when there is a slump or losing streak. D. Lee for half as much is sounding better to me. If Konerko comes back, I'll be one of the out of tune dudes chanting Paully Paully! But for $15 per, the team may be more successful going a different direction. Did that $15 mil rumor come from Crowley? If so, Paully is probably already signed for $12 mil.

Kevin Millar is reminding me of the Terry Bradshaw of the MLB network. I wish I could just get a pay subscription to the transcripts of KW's business phone calls.

White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 05:19 PM) At roughly $120,000/game, he should be there tonight. True. Also, by delaying their decision, the Dodgers wasted a few hundred grand to see if they could get KW to give up a prospect. -
White Sox Acquire Manny Ramirez

Manny should cut his hair for charity when he gets back to Chicago. A player can get a new start with the White Sox. I'll root for him and I'm happy the Sox took the shot. If he gives his best, I'll cheer. Even if he is wacky, it will be interesting to watch the Manny/Ozzie relationship. GO! SOX! The lineup can relax a bit and the hits will keep flowing. This is the turbo boost to pass the twins down the stretch. I guarantee one thing, Manny doesn't fear the twins or consider himself beaten before the game starts. I so freaking sick of the "boogieman" twins. Kick their bleeping ass! This move is more than adding a bat, it's a morale booster for a tired team. Manny can't date my sister, but I can't wait to watch him hit for the good guys. -

I'll bet the hair negotiations are holding things up. If Manny really wanted to mess with reporters and shock people, he should show up with a buzz cut and a suit, be a model citizen, and crush the ball all the way through October. -
I had to work yesterday and I missed it. I just watched the video. I couldn't help feeling emotional for Big Frank. My two favorite players of all time, Fisk and Thomas, next to each other on the field and on the wall. Wow. I try to put in perspective because it is just baseball and there are a lot of important things in life, but that ceremony for Frank was an awesome moment that I'm glad I got to see. Wish I could have been there to cheer until I lost my voice.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) I'll stick up for NJ, he's always had good information coming from the Phillies source. Me too. I may not post that much, but I read just about every word. Rock has had great info and I have no reason to doubt NJ either. Not all inside rumors will actually happen, but that doesn't mean it isn't from a good source. Please don't drive away good posters who claim to bring real info even if you choose not to believe it. Not aimed at anybody, just a blanket request. I love the rumor stuff a lot more than another Kotsay crucifixion thread. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) The Sox are currently one of the teams down from last season. Attendance flat out sucked the first 2 months of the season. This pennant chase should rock it. Manny would put butts in seats too. I think the Sox will get him and he may be back next year if he an Ozzie have a good working relationship. -

If you are the Twins and you know that Manny only wants to play for the Sox AND has a no trade, why not block? Even if the Dodgers want to dump his whole salary on the Twins, Manny would just say no. Manny might just go to the Twins and play with Big Jim. -
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) Linebrink over his last 11 outings: 10.2 IP 8H, 2BB, 8K, 0.937 WHIP, 0.84 ERA He's good now, go ahead claim him off waivers. You're getting a good arm. Do it. We all know Linebrink is not going anywhere. He is Peavy's buddy and has helped Floyd. Good clubhouse guy.

Odd that Ozzie just went off about Spanish speaking players and PED's. Hmm. Reinsdorf was in the war room in the final hours of the trade deadline. Hmm. I'll take Manny with Ozzie. It's worth the risk. I want to win again. -
If I remember correctly, he's turned down a trade to the Sox in the past. KW always gets his player eventually.
-
Put in a waiver claim and offer them Jack Squat. Screw Washington! Play the Cuban Tank!

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) we have but they havent No thanks. LaRoche sounds good to me if the Nationals want to crush KW's balls in a vice. must...sleep...now.

QUOTE (longshot7 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) If kw REALLY wants to shock the world, he should trade for Kobe Bryant. KW tried but the Lakers insisted on Beckham. Not worth it. / green

Ichiro would be a bold move.

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:51 PM) I find it hard to believe we will get Dunn. I mean I don't know how 3 way trades work, if it is reported at once or piece by piece, but considering there were rumors of a 3 way trade with Jackson, Dunn & Sox, you would think this is either on hold and Nats are negotiating with Sox but maybe they really don't want Jackson. I feel we should have Dunn by now. And if it comes to the point where we have to throw in another player to get Dunn with Jackson, well then we will need a starter and have to throw in more players from our minor league system, which seems rather wasteful. Worth the risk considering the team we could have with a bat and arm but I hope our minors don't get scalped too bad. Maybe before the Sox move Jackson for Dunn, they want to secure another pitcher to take Jackson/Hudson's place. They have to see like they are happy to keep Jackson or the other team would drive a hard bargain for the pitcher the Sox are targeting. If the Sox trade for another pitcher, then it's a Done Dunn deal.

Any chance money is coming with Jackson? Mr. Scott we need more power to keep Soxtalk online! I'm Giving Her All She's Got Captain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
