QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Buzzkill: Tim Kurkjian of ESPN reporting that the Nationals told him directly they are NOT trading Dunn to the White Sox for Edwin Jackson Who are the Sox giving to the National for Dunn then? Notice that they didn't say that Dunn was not going to the Sox. Sox may really want to keep Jackson and another package on the way to Washington. Santos and Flowers?

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) Bowden reported that Dunn is close to being a member of the Sox Thanks for finding the Bowden source. Nice info! I should have taken a day off work today.

Rios, Konerko, Dunn and Quentin.....love the middle of the lineup...love the balance Dunn Brings...love the make-up he'll bring less than a minute ago via web Bowden

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) This is how you spell Harrell. As long as they get it right on his jersey tonight he will be happy. Think he's nervous? I love it when guys get a shot like this.

I can't believe all we got for Freddy Garcia is Flipping 6 ERA Bust Gavin Floyd!!!!!! We couldn't even get back Rowand. Worst trade ever!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, I've seen over reactions to trades before. I'll withhold judgement. Sox will either flip him or they see something in him that they feel can improve. Good luck Dan Hudson.

KW always gets the players he wants eventually. Being a fan of KW for a decade, I will make my best estimation of what will go down. The biggest names KW has wanted include Griffey, Clemens, ARod,Ichiro, and Manny. Arod is still with a contender. Griffey has been accomplished. Tonight, I predict the Sox will acquire Ichiro and bring Clemens out of retirement.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2010 -> 07:57 AM) Many of us had similar sentiments when we acquired Contreras, Floyd and Thornton. Agreed. I trust the Sox when it comes to picking up highly talented pitchers who have not achieved success that matches their talent level. You can add Jenks, Loaiza, and even the Danks acquisition had posters screaming for BMac. They may see something to fix in Jackson. I'll wait for the details of the deal and see what else KW pulls off. Sure, there is a counter list of failures, but Jackson was/is a very highly regarded talent. Why do i have a feeling that all of this is going down while I'm at work tonight.

KW will make a big move. Aren't they doing the reality show until the trade deadline. Yes, I do believe the cameras will add extra incentive to the most aggressive GM in baseball.

Beckham needs to be sent down

Nix now has 5 HR for Cleveland in the last 7-8 days. Just for those keeping track. -
I didn't feel like voting, but I did several times. It's Paully and he deserves it. I didn't feel right not taking a few minutes to vote.

Beckham needs to be sent down
103 mph screwball replied to WhiteSoxfan1986's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The Sox can just send Gordon down to get things worked out and get his confidence back. Nix is red hot. He has 4 home runs last week proving that if properly managed and getting more than 10 AB's per month, he can hit a bit....Oh wait the Sox gave him up for nothing. The Sox winning makes it eaiser to swallow mistakes, but they are still mistakes. Gordon on the bench is bad for his development. Send Gordon down, play Lillibridge until he proves he shouldn't be playing and bring up CJ Retherford to be the guy who sits the bench and Ozzie pretends is not on the team. Not good for CJ either, but I don't think he would turn down the opportunity. -
Over .500 and within 5 games by the end of the month!

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) I will be irate if they can't get their s*** straight and KW leaves. Agree 100%. The assembled talent is not working out. Now you can assume that the talent is bad and blame the GM or blame the manager for not getting the most out of his players. (Players accountable....I get it but you can't replace the team quickly). You have to fire the manager first to see if a different manager can get the assembled talent to perform as expected. Then if that doesn't work, then you start over in the off season with a new GM who brings in their own guy as manager. Clean slate. I would be very disappointed to lose KW. I'm hoping for a nice 15 game winning streak to solve the problem. -
Olney: Sox to start trading away vets

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) I hope I'm wrong, but it's hard to see Jake Peavy being as dominant here as he was in the NL. Maybe the Cardinals (or the Phillies) take him off our hands... That's the guy who keeps coming to my mind. If the Sox want to cut salary, Peavy has the highest. Konerko goes too and lucky for the Sox, he's having a good season. I'd like him to sign back next season. Rios is a big salary who they could move as well no that he has figured things out. Mark stays. He's making too much and having a bad season. Plus it would be too much of a PR hit to lose him. Crappy season. I thought they'd be better. I'm ready big change. -
They will stop pressing and relax a bit offensively on the road. That should get enough runs to win with stellar starting pitching. They will get on a roll on the road and the streak will carry over when the Sox return home. First place by the middle of May.

4/9 Twinkies vs Sox - 7:05pm cdt WCIU

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Does anybody know anything about getting WCIU out in Rockford? I'm pretty sure you will be out of luck with WCIU. Plus, the game will be blacked out on the MLB.com video thing. Best bet would be to listen on 670AM. If you have directv, I have heard there may be a way. PM me or google directv and "moving". -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Jones 1-4 lifetime with an RBI against Liriano Kotsay 2-4 lifetime with an RBI. Yay, for small sample sizes! Just play Jones anyway. Rios is 0-5 with 3 K's lifetime. I'm hoping for Alexei to come through tonight. He's hit Liriano last time they met. Liriano is probably much better than the last time Alexei faced him. Should be a bit warmer tonight. Wish I could be there. -
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:36 PM) After giving this some thought... I think CQ at DH would be a really bad idea. The way this guy stews and gets pissed after even a single swing...imagine him having to sit for 2 innings stewing over a bad at bat.... Maybe he can go look at a mirror and work on his swing. Didn't Big Frank go to a batting cage between at bats. I'm not sure I want to build the Sox around what Carlos wants. I'd build it around what gives the Sox the best chance to win now. I'd let him play left if it really affected his hitting. The Sox should be built around Peavy and Beckham if special treatment is to be given.
-
Anything less than a standing O when he comes up to bat is classless. After that, he is a Twin.
-
Pierre has the worst arm, but I'm not convinced that he is the worst defender. TCQ seems slow out there.
-
Rios should not play left. Rios is gold glove caliber talent in right. Rios plays right! Jones plays CF! TCQ can have his choice of either LF or DH. This is a good team. Please don't screw it up by putting square pegs in round holes.

The #2 and #5 spots in the lineup...
103 mph screwball replied to SouthsideDon48's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A double would have brought Pierre home from first or at least 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. STOP bunting Beckham PLEASE! If bunting over the leadoff hitter is going to be the game plan, have Rios lead off, Pierre 2nd and Beckham 3rd. Let him produce runs. Hit and run is fine, bunting is a waste in Beckham's case. Pierre gets on, Beckham bunts, intentional walk TCQ, Paully GIDP. NO, NO, NO! -
That was a great article. I feel like I know them a little bit better after reading that. Nice job by the author to bring us a different perspective.

QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) BREAKING NEWS: Peavy still wants A-Gone! Smell that? Smells like it's time for another three-team trade fairytale rumor to run with SoxNot. Joe Cowley's twitter Somebody explain to me why this pathetic excuse for a journalist believes pissing off a large group of fans of the team he covers for a living is a good idea. This is why I stopped following him on twitter. I don't care who he knows or what he writes, I will not read his stuff because he comes off a real jerk on twitter. I don't know him and he might be a good human, but he really needs to get off of twitter unless he wants to be disliked. I felt this long before any AGon rumor. I dropped him last year. Fortunately we have a lot of other good places to get Sox news and don't even need to look at his paper at all. Maybe he is angry about that. Drop him from twitter unless you want to be pissed off.

Ozzie Guillen is now on twitter

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) Which is the best iPhone app to use Twitter? Try Echofon first. (there is a free and a pro version) I've used the free version for over a year and it does everything I need it to do. If all you have is one account and want to read what Ozzie, Merkin, and Teahen have to say, Echofon free should do the job. If that doesn't do enough for your needs, then I agree with the previously mentioned twitterific because I've heard good things about it.
