In fact I quote you in my sig.

Sorry for the sarcasm. It was an emotional reaction to what I interpreted as an arrogant response. I felt compelled to continue the debate. Referring to the point of view that the Sox have not done as well as they should in Latin America as somehow not knowledgeable tends to stifle any kind of response. Your point is taken that they now seem to be doing more. I'm encouraged. The feeling that that the Sox have not done as well as they should comes from the lack of impact players over the last decade as compared to other teams. Anyhow, I appreciate your contribution here 29th.

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Oct 16, 2007 -> 06:55 AM) If you want more information, please ask. Someone on this site will provide it for you as there are many knowledgeable people here who know what's what. Who was the last Dominican that was signed and developed by the Sox to make the team? Who was the last player from Latin America? Magglio? I can't speak for other posters, but I took their point to mean major league talented Dominican players. How many players from the Dominican have made the major leagues in the last 15 years? Latin America? What percentage were brought up in the Sox system? Statmandu? Where are you:)? I think expectations have been raised with a Latin manager and a World Series title. To their credit, the Sox have brought in impact players from Japan. I humbly await enlightenment from the knowledgeable.

I like this deal. I think the Angels get the better end on the players, but assuming the money saved in the deal gets invested back in the team, this could really improve the Sox. It all depends on who they spend the extra money on. In that way, it reminds me of the Lee for Pods/Viz trade. The Brewers got the better player, and the Sox got the pieces for a ring. With KW, it would not shock me if this was the beginning of a chain of deals that ends up with ARod at short or 3rd. He does not think small. If you want more team speed, adding Figgins a parting ways with Konerko would be good start. I love Pauly and appreciate what Garland has done for the Sox. However, both have had some ugly slumps over the years.
-
I'll speculate. Eckstein will be playing 2nd. ARod will be at short. 2b Eckstein Lf Fields DH Thome SS Arod Rf Dye 1b Konerko C AJ 3b Crede Cf Owens I'm trying to think like KW. Who could the Sox be trying to get that Buehrle would think would be a stretch? KW will try to make big moves. 1. He always does. 2. Doesn't want this pathetic season to erode the season ticket base. 3. KW rumored to be after ARod before. Eckstein also has a good relationship with the Sox new manager, Tony LaRussa.

QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) Dye for Pena is not an acceptable deal. I agree. I see no reason not to offer arbitration. If he accepts and he is not part of the plan, then he can be traded. Dye is not Magglio. It was questionable if Maggs was going to be able to run again. Tell Boston to jump in the bay. Why hasn't Mackowiak been traded yet?
-
Dye to the Boston is the rumor we have heard multiple times from different sources. Therefore, there is no chance he will be traded to Boston. KW will do something unexpected like trade him to the Brewers or sign him to an extension. If the Sox were to get Pena, they could put him in left with Hunter in center and Rowand in right. I can dream.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNNER!!!
103 mph screwball replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Went to the game tonight and I feel much better about the team. I realize that it was just one game, but something about Pods back and the kids Richar, Fields, and Owens contributing made me less pissed about this seasons disappointments and more optimistic. There seemed to be a swagger of confidence returning. I had by far the worst seats I've ever had but had a great time. -
Angels after Konerko?

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) Not my business, and very respectfully to other posters but I would say the insults are about even up. Can we talk baseball please. I nominate this as the best post. You sir, should be a diplomat. Nicely played. Sorry, back to baseball. I just thought this was a thread salvaging post. Thanks. -
Angels after Konerko?

Konerko for Figgins. Git'er done KW. Well, Crede for Figgins rumors are looking better with hindsight. I would be absolutely shocked if Konerko were traded. Then, I'd probably be happy only because that means KW got a fortune for him and will have another superstar on the roster by the end of the off season. It would be bad mojo to trade a guy who took less money to stay unless he wanted to be traded. Teams have probably inquired about everyone on the Sox that is worth anything. Gives us something to argue about while KW is in stealth mode. I have a feeling the Sox are going to have some extra draft picks next year. -
QUOTE(Beastly @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) Is there a way we can DL Terrero (fake injury) and keep him from being claimed for a bit? Psychic

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 10:02 PM) Hitters went 9/10 against Sisco I hope he was working on a pitch. Ouch.

Was the All-Star game depressing for you too?
103 mph screwball replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Aaron Rowand will make it for the Sox next year. Don't flame. Let me dream. You have a good point. The position prospects do not appear to be future all stars, but I'll leave that evaluation to the Future Sox crew. Thats what you get when you draft all of that pitching. Fortunately, the pitching can be traded for other team's position prospects that could make the all star team. Also, it is much less risky to sign high talent position free agents than pitchers. With the cost of high profile free agents routinely in double digit millions, it would be a wise investment to hire a greater number of more talented scouts. An all star making 400,000 can do a lot to help a team succeed. It's worth the investment in the long run. -
QUOTE(StatManDu @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) *Observations: Peter Gammons said on ESPN on Tuesday afternoon that he wouldn’t be surprised if Ken Griffey Jr. wound up with the White Sox. In that same report Gammons also indicated that the Sox would move pitcher Jose Contreras. How can this not be in the trade winds section yet! Griffeytalk.com! Fits KW's pattern. Floyd is part of a package for Griffey?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) Standing past is absolutely ridiculous. It honestly upsets me to even think about the possibility of not trading any starting pitcher. He will trade someone, but it wouldn't be so horrible to wait until the 31st if it drives up the price. If I were a GM, I'd try to lowball KW and hope he is impatient. KW hopefully will be prepared for that. Even if no one is trade by the 31st, then that is because he knows he could get more in the off season. He won't want to go through the contract stuff with Garland. He's gonna sell high and the fact that he just signed Mark will not make it look like some sort of white flag.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) Haeger's probably just being called up to pitch out of the pen. The rotation will be Garland, Buehrle, Vazquez, Contreras, Danks. No trades will be made. I'm almost positive this is the case. That clinches it. KW must have made a big trade in stealth mode. Hope Haeger does well. I'm pulling for the knuckleball underdog.
-
QUOTE(rock1735 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 06:56 PM) Charlie Haeger was promoted. Wow. Good for him. I thought he should have come north with the team this spring for the bullpen. What is KW up to? After the All-Star break, the rotation could be Buehrle, Danks, Haeger, Gio, Pelfrey. If there is such a thing as an exciting GM, KW is it. Can't you just feel that something will be announced tomorrow? This means that after Floyd was sent down, the team he was trading a pitcher to realized that KW was not bluffing and met his demands. One of the starters must have been traded. Since Gavin had been sent down already, Haeger was brought up to fill the void. That's my attempt at figuring out KW's genius. I'll guess Garland is a Dodger and Kemp and Billingsley are on their way. If I'm right, I'll play the lotto this weekend.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 02:54 PM) Richar has been raking in AAA and Iguchi is on the trade block... Just sayin. Good point. That may be a move we see before the end of the year, but why move Floyd down? Just let Richar take Iguchi's spot if he is moved. KW in stealth mode.
-
I think this is a nice KW negotiation move. He's not getting enough for one of his pitchers, so he sends Gavin back down to show that he will just keep what he has if the offer doesn't get better.
-
Well, I'd better get in this 500th post in now. I'm hoping it will get me promoted from Winston-Salem (High A)
-
Rowand in center and Ichiro in right. The odds are against it, but I'll bet KW will make an effort to get it done. Rowand will discount. Ichiro will partially pay for himself with Japanese advertising. Rowand doesn't seem quite so overrated hitting 310 and on the all star team.
-
If the Sox do not plan to bring him back next year and the Sox want to trade him, they should ask him first. If he doesn't want to be traded, then don't. Treat him with respect and other Japanese players will take note of it. It takes a more for a Japanese speaking person to change organizations than a Spanish or English speaking person. Goodwill to attract Japanese free agents is more important than what you'd get in a trade.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) you guys do this for free, so whatever is easiest for you guys. I agree. Especially if you archive the old stuff for posterity. I'd like to keep my join date so that nobody thinks I joined in Oct 2005.
