QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2016 -> 12:14 AM) Nate Jones is wild. Nothing about him is "elite" as he proved today. he needs a remake of his delivery. His motion reminds me of how some little league players are taught to throw the ball off the mound when they first start learning how to pitch

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 29, 2016 -> 06:15 PM) I'd rather see the team turn it around under Ventura. Lost in the weekend collapse is the fact that they were in a position to sweep KC. Seriously, step back for a minute and think about it: David Robertson blew a 6 run lead in the 9th. How the f*** can you make sense of that? Just forget about it. This team has lost 6 in a row and still finds itself 3 games over .500 and in good position to contend for the lead. Did anyone seriously think they were going to run away with the division? You could try to forget about it but we've already blown more than a handful of games this year in similar fashion.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 29, 2016 -> 05:07 PM) It doesn't sound like this at all. Anderson not part of these talks. I don't even want to give up Tatis Jr. Just give them EJ if we are taking on all that salary. It's basically a salary dump for them.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) Our big name minor leaguers struggled a fair amount during April and May last year, which might not be all that surprising with a franchise whose motto is "aggressive promotion to challenge people". You put people at a level that challenges them and you expect them to struggle early in the year, some guys (Anderson) figured out how to succeed later in the year last year. There may be more struggles this year than last year but early season struggles make sense given organizational philosophy. Who is getting pushed faster than they should be?

Can Someone Honestly Tell Me ONE Thing That Ventura Does Well?

They must really want the White Sox to move out of Chicago because if they hold onto Robin until this completely blows up they are going to be lucky to get 5k in the seats in a few years. -
Why the rush to do this deal now? Why don't we see if we are floundering in 4th place in 2-3 weeks first. That's where we are headed at this point anyway.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Harrelson did say the clubhouse was the quietest after yesterday that he could remember. Well, after today...that's a Zombie Death Flight to NYC. Sorry, misinterpreted what Fathom wrote before reading the article. That's the one thing you almost never get out of either Hahn OR Ventura, any emotion at all. Sometimes it can be helpful, but not necessarily to act like a bird with its head in the sand ignoring everything going on around him. A manager with his head in the sand will certainly get no respect from the players. He doesn't own up to his mistakes as an inexperienced manager.

QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 28, 2016 -> 11:03 PM) Look at the pitchers in this years FA market. I don't think it's unreasonable at all that Shields would opt out. He wouldn't end up receiving a 21M AAV, but something along the lines of 4/60 doesn't seem unreasonable for him. He's in his mid 30's. No team is giving him a 4 year deal.

He isn't playing full time right now. His matchups are cherry picked. For example, he didn't play against DeGrom a few days ago. His true average as a regular is probably more like .250 in the NL.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ May 28, 2016 -> 05:27 PM) My advice: Chill out, relax and enjoy the fact that we still don't have to make up any ground to be in first. Sure glad we are having this streak in May and not August. Let's make some much needed moves, reshuffle and get back to it. Why would you be glad that we are slumping when we are facing all of the top divisional opponents? This stretch will probably end up costing us a chance at a playoff spot.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2016 -> 05:10 PM) Balta's alive!!! Watched the replay of that last pitch to Eibner. Talk about center-cut. Guess you can't blame Kahnle after he was put in that position in the first place and getting squeezed on the strike zone, your primary thought is not to walk him. He had to throw a strike. That pitch was 98 on the gun so you really can't fault him for going with a fastball. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 28, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) 15:$10M, 16:$21M, 17:$21M, 18:$21M, 19:$16M club option ($2M buyout) perks: hotel suite on road deal does not include no-trade clause, but Shields may opt out of contract after 2016 season (no later than 3 days after World Series) $44 million, plus $14 million this year. $58 million total. Would still be one of the five biggest contracts in Sox history. I can't see us doing that unless SD throws in money no way he opts out of $20 mill/yr

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ May 28, 2016 -> 04:41 PM) Royals have done this before, remember Ozzie's first game April 5, 2004. They scored six in the 9th on opening day. Only Robin and Cooper (Dumb and Dumber) would use five pitchers in one inning, then the next day use the closer in a non save situation. Mark Wasn't that Billy Koch's first game after we traded for him? -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) Oh, I forgot, failed miserably to bring in a "good" (not even asking for great anymore) bat this offseason...especially a LHed one. I wanted Cespedes badly but our small market owner was content to leave the team only good enough to play .500 or slightly better baseball -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2016 -> 10:41 PM) Dan Hayes ✔ @CSNHayes Ventura on walking Hosmer for Perez (2/2): " ... Dukie has had some good numbers against Hosmer." Ventura on walking Hosmer for Perez (1/2): "You consider it. I mean you load it up, you don’t give Jonesy much to work with there. ... Hosmer has 6 AB's against Duke. Is that a relevant sample size to draw conclusions from? lol -
SP is like our 3rd or arguably 4th biggest need right now. Wouldn't be a fan of this unless we got him for literally nothing.

QUOTE (Special K @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:38 PM) At this point, I think we have another 3rd-4th place team on our hands gentlemen. Sorry to break it to ya. Robin is truly awful; he finally tried batting someone that isn't a black hole in the line up in the 2 hole, which did seem to give some life to the offense. But in the end, he's also stuck with the roster he was dealt, which consists of 3-4 black holes on offense (C, DH, SS, CF), and a weak back end of the rotation. In the words of Denny Green, "the Sox are, who We thought they are!!!" The rotation has been above average. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 27, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) Is baseball the only sport you can go from a potential all-star to a total bum in the span of a couple weeks? Right now he needs to be released or go on the DL a month after being dominant for a month. That one year Humber pitched a no hitter I believe and ended up getting released that season. It was a perfect game -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2016 -> 08:47 PM) Burning up the two reliable guys in the first game of a series is not a smart idea. Of course if anyone else in the pen were actually doing their jobs, this wouldn't be an issue. For all you know we could get blown out in the final 2 games. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 27, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) Because we didn't sign Ian Desmond or Dexter Fowler, lol...? Napoli pops up. 3-3 Orioles/Indians going to the top of the 6th in CLE. I don't want to see Sands ever again this is a damn joke. How does Sands deserve a shot over Davidson?
