  1. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 23, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) I'm fine with sac bunting with 2 on/no outs, but not really with Rollins on deck... hope he proves me wrong Navarro isn't scoring from 2b on a single
  2. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 22, 2016 -> 07:34 PM) No kidding. I appreciate Sands contributions in the couple games he's been a part of the win but Avi needs the ABs. Robin loves Sands like Ozzie loved Dewayne Wise
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) Saladino's doing just fine. The biggest problem isn't SS or even the 5th starter at the moment, or the bullpen. It's Jose Abreu, first and foremost. Without him being at least his 2015 version, forget about it. Then you have a long list...Jackson, Lawrie, Avi Garcia, the catchers. I think Hahn actually should be fired if they push Tim Anderson up before he's ready to try to "save" this season. Not with that walk rate. Anderson's walk rate hasn't been any higher than this at any level of the minors.
  4. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ May 20, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) I know you've said this a couple times and if that inning is causing this collapse then they were mental midgits to begin with anyway and it really was a fluke start. I doubt this team is this bad, just really frustrating to see after the hot start. But we're getting beat by the Dillon Gee's of the world not ace starters. So I would say he probably is right.
  5. Guess we can hope Hahn can position the team to make a run at a wild card spot and maybe we can go on another lucky run with our pitching staff.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 20, 2016 -> 09:16 PM) May is nowhere near MLB starting caliber Well in that case we are still a DH, CF, C, 2 SP, and setup man away from contending.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 20, 2016 -> 09:09 PM) No matter how you shuffle it, this lineup still sucks. Might as well get May and Anderson up here so we can get them the experience they need to be reliable starters next season if they can play at this level.
  8. Ranaudo has looked decent starting in AAA so far 2 starts only gave up 1 run in each one.
  9. QUOTE (South Sider @ May 18, 2016 -> 07:08 PM) Not even close. Get swept by KC and I think people can maybe, MAYBE start thinking about that button. (not pressing it though) Cleveland will have a shot at taking the division lead in our upcoming series with them.
  10. The catcher didn't sell the interference well enough. In the heat of the moment that's hard to think about doing but it's a call that a guy like AJ would have gotten. I think the reason the umpire didn't think to call it because the catcher went out of his way to get the throw off cleanly. This might not have been as obvious to the umpire that there was a major obstruction at the time.
  11. It's one thing to blow a lead here and there but very troubling how many times the bullpen has blown games this week. Even multiple blown leads within games. I think this is closer to the real White Sox bullpen than what we saw at the beginning of the year. Albers doesn't look like he has the ability to cope with any kind of adversity so not sure he can be trusted in high leverage anymore in a must win/playoff type game. Just completely imploding after that one poor game is a terrible sign. This team is just not as mentally tough as I thought. I wasn't concerned at all after the Texas game since I knew it was just one game. Every team has a bad loss like that every year. But I remember some people saying that would be the start of a big losing streak and unfortunately they are looking like they are right. The offense has been adequate most games but really is not capitalizing in situations where you can really blow a game open. It seems like we have had bases loaded so many times this season already and we've rarely gotten more than 1 run in if at all.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) Wow at least wait until they aren't in first to jump off the bandwagon Well it's looking like that will happen during the upcoming slate of divisional games
  13. Looking more and more like we were all fooled by the hot start.
  14. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ May 15, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) I would agree that he is minimally acceptable as a 5th starter on most teams. However, if the Sox want to win the Division this year, they will have to find a fifth starter who is more competitive and goes deeper into games. Gonzo has given up 19 hits and 10 walks in 15.2 innings. (1.85 WHIP and 5.17 ERA). He has been on the brink of disaster on several occasions which could easily have blown those games wide open and made those stats ugly. The bullpen is a separate issue except to the extent that a starter like Gonzo can't make it through 5 innings which then increases the outs the pen has to cover. They are not trading for a 5th starter they will trade for a middle of the rotation guy who is not a rental who will replace what was Danks spot this year (he was leaving at the end of the season regardless of performance).
  15. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ May 15, 2016 -> 06:42 PM) I watched the games he pitched in. Gonzo was more lucky than good. He was on the tip of disaster in several innings. The reason he has to go is because of what Plesac said. He can throw strikes but doesn't because he does not trust his pitches in the zone. I don't know who the Sox should bring up as the next contestant in the 5th starter derby. Not Erik Johnson, not Scott Carroll and not Gonzo for sure. That is why I suggested possibly skipping the 5th spot for one turn while that is being discussed and decided on. Miguel Gonzalez has not lost us a game in his 3 starts facing TOR, TEX and NYY all on the road. Let that sink in. No 5th starter is going to be dominant he is doing what a 5th starter is supposed to do which is keep us in games. Not his fault the bullpen blew leads in the last 2 games.
  16. Would love to buy low on a guy like Inciarte.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 15, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) lol worst comes to worst, at least we didn't lose a series to the Twins at home. They could have easily been swept. Indians might be a little overrated. Our division is looking pretty bad so far.
  18. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 15, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) I miss Tyler Flowers That bum had more chances than Danks to prove himself.
  19. QUOTE (Green Line @ May 15, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Everyone in the bullpen has been blowing it this week. Who are we supposed to pitch? Albers? Everyone is fresh. It's a 1 run game we need to win.
  20. QUOTE (SI1020 @ May 14, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) I completely agree on all counts. I think the major percentage of Sox fans are rooting for Jason Benetti a young man who is a Sox fan and has overcome so much in his life. I want to say I like him but have to agree with your assessment. I really enjoyed Plesac and Harrelson last night. I'm not a fan of Benetti. I always find myself listening to the away broadcast on the home games.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan85 @ May 14, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Not really liking that Tanaka vs. Gonzalez match-up tomorrow. This was the one to get. Yep. On the bright side, the Yankees offense hasn't shown much life this series.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 14, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Why in the world is Jerry Sands batting? Because Robin is a genius
  23. Damn Indians got lucky Park missed what would've been a game tying double by a couple feet
  24. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 13, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) Well, we might get to see Purke tonight if Chris doesn't go the distance No just no. Not after what happened with Carroll.
