  1. White Sox need another hitting coach or replace the current dude, IMO..
  2. I totally agree to try to obtain Adam Frazier, as long as the cost is not too much, but I would use him in RF and leave Mendick at second. Mendick is solid at second and has made clutch plays for us. He looks focused at the plate, especially in key at-bats. So my primary focus if I was Rick Hahn would be on solving the DH dilemma then RF. I don't have many suggestions for LH bats but , FWIW my line-up for August after the big boys come back: Tim Anderson - SS Yoan Moncada - 3B Jose Abreu - 1B Eloy Jiminez - LF Yasmani Grandal- C Luis Robert - CF Adam Frazier (or other trade target) - RF David Peralta or Joey Gallo (or other trade target) - DH Danny Mendick - 2B Right now, I would start platooning Vaughn and Lamb at DH. Not sure what to do with Mercedes but he has looked awful and is making a fool of himself with the approach he has.
  3. I entirely disagree. Mendick is going to be fine as a replacement. We need to get HR from the corner outfielders and the DH spot, not try to fill that need with second basemen. Mercedes, Vaughn and Eaton need to be replaced. or at least platooned .
  4. Yermin and and Vaughn in the same line-up have routinely been giving up 7 or 8 of 27 outs per game. If that was balanced with a lot of home runs, it would be acceptable. It pains me to see how many HR a team like the Rays can put up. Down 3-0 on two home runs early yesterday against an ace pitcher just about ruined the game. Please men, start hitting the ball out of the frikkin' park tonight against the Rays. No excuses. Let's go.
  5. Yerminator is not hitting righties or lefties. Rick Hahn has to make the call about what to do with him now. Maybe demote or DFA him and bring up Jake Burger or Sheets or possibly make a trade.
  6. Perhaps Mercedes and Eaton DFA and Vaughn to the Minors.
  7. I would love to trade Hendriks if the Sox could get a decent return for him but admittedly, part of that is because I don't care for the guy's over-the-top act and vulgarity. IMO without Hendriks, the Sox could still Close by committee, like the Rays do.
  8. Mendick has made game saving plays and is hitting good pitching. I'd stick with him . We need bullpen help and some guys that can hit and hit for power in the middle of the line-up. Mercedes and Vaughn are on thin ice right now.
  9. TB has a line-up that is relentless....almost no breaks for a pitcher. Lynn was under stress every inning. Our line-up was going to be that way before all the injuries. Now it is like Swiss cheese. Some roster moves or trades will be made if some of these guys continue to struggle.
  10. Let's get 'em tomorrow. We need to hit some home runs ...with men on base.
  11. Stone should stop ejaculating over the Rays.
  12. The silver lining if there is one from this game is that some of the biggest weaknesses have been exposed further, and it isn't at second base.
  13. Yup. One has to go. Can't have two guys in the middle of the line-up struggling like this.
  14. Mercedes should take but he doesn't obey signs.
  15. Yes but then you have a RH pitcher facing top LH hitters on the Rays. Correct?
  16. If they didn't have the the3 batter rule, Tony could have had a right hander face Arozerena.
  17. Get 'em tomorrow.
  18. Fastball was obviously a mistake. Probably ballgame.
  19. The Sox can't have Mercedes and Vaughn struggling like this. Maybe lose Mercedes and let Vaughn DH or leave Vaughn in LF and bring up Burger to DH.
  20. If Mercedes keeps regressing he won't be worth a thing in trade. Given that, I'd sell high on Mercedes and let Vaughn DH after Eloy and Robert come back. I guess people with Yerminator jerseys wouldn't like that though.
  21. I The extrapolation of selected data that a Fangraph contributor or contributors drew from Vaughn's limited innings in the outfield is rather lame. Baseball fans refer to that as a small sample size. Then there is potential bias by those who use data to draw conclusions and promote them. Vaughn lacks the speed and reach of other outfielders. He may be statistically better at catching balls than other players because he simply doesn't get to a lot of them. You can't drop 'em if you can't get to 'em. Goodwin may have gotten to that ball but we will never know, and nether will Carlos Rodon. Nevertheless, as mentioned in another thread, Vaughn is in the outfield primarily because of his bat, just like Eloy was. He needs to hit like Eloy if he wants to stay out there, especially after Eloy and Robert come back. LaRussa is giving Vaughn and Mercedes every chance to show that they can hit and belong on the roster. So far they have been doing pretty well, but there are a lot of games left in the season. Fans quickly can turn on under-performing players..
  22. Eloy is way faster than Vaughn. He probably would have made that catch but then run into the wall. TLR made the right decision to pinch hit because his priority is to win games, not preserve a no-hitter.
  23. Vaughn should have caught that ball and preserved Rodon's no hitter. He is as slow as molasses.
