  1. Is it me, or are Benetti and Stone terrible? I’ve got mlb tv, the other teams’ announcers don’t do all this stupid , cutsey, unfunny ribbing.
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) if you ask most fans I think they'd say the replay process sucks and hasn't resulted in a "fairer" overall experience. It gets the really bad ones fixed sure but on average meh. 90% of the time a challenge happens it's obvious the call should stand imo. This is baseball, given any sort of reasonable doubt just move on and leave it. 90 seconds tops on the review should be the standard. This. My thing is:. Move on, play ball. The world is not going to end if they don't get it right. have a process in place to get rid of bad umpires, but don't neuter them. The games are plenty long enough.
  3. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 10:02 PM) replay is fine the way they do it is f***ING STUPID. jesus, just have a 5th ump in the booth LIVE at the game, you don't need "New York". So f***ing stupid. Even the NFL isn't this dumb. I don't mind the human element. But if getting it right is so important, use robots or computers for balls, strikes, everything.
  4. Hawk is at his best when a Sox player gets hit, like on Sunday. Got real quiet, like your dad when your mom tells him you broke the lamp.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 01:24 PM) Wow that is huge if true. I've noticed Hawk and Stoney are as far apart as possible as you said. I was at the game today; Jason and Stone sit so close they look like a kid at the game with his grandpa. Jason is fine and he's only going to get better. I could do with a little less needling or whatever it is. Corny is the word. I like the radio broadcast, Ed and D.J. bicker and start pissing matches when things are slow.
  6. Brutal. I love baseball, but 4 hour 9 inning games are a pet peeve.
  7. See, this is the difference between Bennetti and Hawk. Stone just gave some good stuff about the middle 80% whose success/failure is largely mental. Hawk would never have sat through something like that.
  8. I like Hawk, but he is hard to listen to when the Sox aren't doing well. Miserable, like he's mad at you for watching. Benetti is decent and is brand new, he's only going to get better. Sticks and Stones is great. Man, the Sox really suck right now though.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Realistically, I don't want my hitters thinking any more than they have to. Stats and strategies are for management and coaches. They might communicate to do something a specific situation, but players just need to play. Yogi Berra put it best: You can't think and hit at the same time. The Japanese have a word for it, mushin, which means "no mind." Its a state samurai would go into when they'd have a sword fight. I think you can apply that to hitting.
  10. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ May 24, 2016 -> 06:19 PM) Nice catch by the fan. If I were the sox and saw people catch homers and foul balls id give away items for catching them. Would be a fun little thing to do for the fans since they struggle with attendance Thanks, man. That was me.
