  1. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) #hahn is the #2 national trend on twitter right now. The people really want him fired. Hahn isn't going anywhere. This is year 2 of some sort of 3 year plan. A 500 finish this year will be an improvement over last year and a success in the eyes of Sox ownership.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 09:15 PM) Every single big out has been on a change. You'd think we'd scout that You can scout it all you want. The problem is that the Sox have hitters who are pretty terrible at making in games adjustments. Also very little need to throw strikes to Sox hitters. They will get themselves out as you are seeing tonight.
  3. Ain't much one can do except tip the cap to Mr. Kyle Gibson. Dude just straight up owns the Sox. A right handed Bruce Chen if you will. Mr Gibson's next start on Sunday against Texas will not go as well as tonight, however. He will have to face competent major league hitters in that one.
  4. QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) Avila is fine for a catcher and batting 8th/9th. Shuck is a subpar bench option and I don't know what Avi is but it ain't an MLB player. Masterful work tonight in dashing any potential hopes of another winning streak. Avila doesn't hit and his defense is bad. Barely a replacement level catcher. Absolutely delusional to think this team as currently constructed has any playoff hopes. What is it gonna take to get Cargo, Lucroy, and that Vizcaino dude from the Braves?
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:38 PM) Our hitters suck and have sucked all season. Nothing shocks me anymore especially with my boy Q on the mound. This team is running Aliva, Garcia, and Shuck out there in the 7, 8, and 9 spots. It is delusional to think that a team has a shot at the playoffs with three absolute scrubs in the starting lineup.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 08:07 PM) That was ugly. Everyone out in front on that changeup Kyle Gibson just owns the Sox. Always has and apparently always will.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 28, 2016 -> 07:50 PM) I wiill have absolutely no confidence if Avi is stil on this roster at the end of the week. He is so bad. Avi isn't going anywhere as long as Hahn is the GM.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) The problem will be diluted once Putnam returns, but I think adding a bullpen arm is as important as adding a bat to this team. Putnam isn't coming back any time soon.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) For all of Scott Carroll's flaws, he at least looked confident when he pitched. Some of these guys they bring up look like the want no business being there. Yep. Beck looks like a deer caught out in the headlights out there. So did Danish.
  10. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Chris Beck?! Well, he better be on a short leash Beck against Pedroia, Ortiz, and Boegarts. What could go wrong?
  11. The big boys need to get us the lead back! No weak grounders to short Jose!
  12. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) So how do we feel about this team if Shield pitches well (2-3 ER in 6IP) and we sweep the Bo-Sox? Still pretty lukewarm. Would obviously be nice to get above 500 again, but this team is going nowhere if it cant find a way to play better against the Tribe, KC, and Detroit.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:44 AM) There is a nice impossible standard to achieve. No guarantee on when leaves the possibility that it may never happen.
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Or where or if Saying that, I actually think Shields will pitch halfway decent today.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2016 -> 10:08 AM) The first excuses are coming out...the same conditions could have applied in 2013, there was even more pressure on him because it cost Jake Odorrizi and Wil Myers. “James is putting an awful lot of pressure on himself to try to justify the trade,” White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper said.”He’s trying too hard. He’s rushing, anxious, going to fast, and because of that he’s not throwing enough first pitch strikes and/or getting ahead of hitters.” Said White Sox manager Robin Ventura: “Coming into a new situation, and I don’t know if it’s to impress, but to do something a little more, or try and do it better,” Ventura said. “Not that guys don’t want to do that, but there comes a point where you do too much. You try and overcompensate and it ends up going completely the wrong way.” “Strong competitor. A put-away changeup,” Farrell said. “A guy that I think would thrive on the bigger stage or in the spotlight. We don’t take anything for granted. Yeah, he’s had little bit of a rough go in his time coming back to the American League, but still very capable of making quality pitches.” “He’s going to be fine eventually. Hopefully that starts (today),” Cooper said. “There’s no guarantee of that, but I believe in my heart that he’s going to come out of this and he’ll be fine.” http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/red_sox...lping_white_sox Red Sox fans thankful the White Sox stopped them from bringing in James Shields Textbook definition of coach-speak by Cooper here. Shields is gonna be fine eventually, but there is no guarantee on when that will happen!
  16. So here we sit on June 23rd talking about the second wildcard. Has everyone already given up hopes on winning the division?
  17. Having a HS varsity letter for baseball or playing at the college level doesn't mean anything. As other people have already pointed out there are plenty of successful GM's who played very little baseball growing up. Successful baseball Executives and GM's do have something in common though. They always surround themselves with people who are extremely good if not the best at what they do This is where the Sox FO office has failed big time over the past decade or so in my opinion. We have some of the dumbest guys in the room when it comes to scouting, drafting, and player development. No postseason appearances in the past 8 years is proof of this. Hahn is good at contract negotiation but appears to be way in over his head at everything else. He also isn't surrounding himself with people who excel at the aspects that he is bad at and the results are there for all to see.
  18. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 20, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) Hahn just does what he is told. He's a lawyer turned contract negotiator turned GM. There is no evidence that he actually knows anything about baseball talent evaluation. This times a thousand. Hahn is a privileged dude from Winnetka who has been in over his head as a GM since day one. He is most likely a very smart dude, but his results as a GM are pretty terrible.
  19. We seriously have two more years of James Shields? The Sox released Danks only to trade for his right handed counterpart. Hahn traded for this clown and traded away Trayce Thompson. Dude is totally in over his head as a gm.
  20. pretty sure that we will see Shields end up on the DL after this start. The Sox FO will try to save some face for this awful trade by saying that the bad starts were due to some sort of injury.
  21. Danish's stuff looks completely underwhelming. Does he project as a future starter or reliever? Maybe just a long relief guy like Scott Carroll? Kinda disappointed that he was brought up straight from AA. Did not help whatever trade value he might have had.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 03:08 AM) He's 36 years old (or something). Did you expect him to be an ace? Because they wouldn't have gotten an ace for Erik Johnson, Fernando Tatis Jr, and $20+ million. Make it 3 starts in a row that Shields has got rocked. I've never mentioned the word ace and James Shields in the same sentence. Shields keeps this up and he will be a DFA candidate just like Latos.
  23. Frazier is either a homer or bust. Average dipping closer and closer to under .200 with each passing day.
