2014 Films Thread
So there are still only 8 reviews on Rottentomatoes for Transformers 4 just a day and a half before it opens which means the movie is obviously terrible. I'm shocked.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2014 -> 11:23 AM) If you add a Stauskas / McD, add Mirotic and then get an Afflalo that isn't a bad off-season at all and that is a much improved Bulls team. I don't really see how the Bulls are getting Afflalo if they use their picks this year?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2014 -> 12:46 PM) Someone needs to beat the s*** out of Suarez one day. What the f*** is wrong with that guy? There is absolutely no way he should be permitted to play again in the World Cup. And was I the only one who thought the straight red card against Italy was excessive?

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 23, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) Two penalties in a sequence of 3 seconds and dat ref called not one. Insanely obvious handball that shouldn't have been missed but Hernandez flops constantly to the point I would never give him a call unless its about the most obvious foul of all time. And that was a much deserved goal by Mexico on the corner.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) Wow, CR just got screwed out of a PK. Blatant foul in the box not called. Yep, but we get justice a couple minutes later since Costa Rica just scored.

2014 International Signing Period
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=int MLB has a top 30 rankings out the July 2 prospects. The guys that have been linked to the Sox are ranked as follows. Ynoa - 17 Nunez - 26 Alfaro - 28 I like how the Yankees are linked to like half the kids on that list. The Yankees are planning on breaking the bank for the international free agency class but it will be interesting to see exactly how much they decide to spend.

2014 FIFA World Cup
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) I meant Uruguay... Didn't that ball that made it to Suarez bounce off the head of an English defender? Just bad luck this game. England was the aggressor, by and large, and Rooney alone had 3 quality shots on goal. Game of inches...the missed Rooney attempts, the ball that almost skidded off the head of the English defender before getting to Suarez for the first goal, the ball skipping the wrong direction off the head of the defender to Suarez...and then finally the Suarez shot that barely cleared the right shoulder of the goalie before he could react and get his hands up a bit. So now it comes down to Italy-Costa Rica...then England/Costa Rica and Uruguay/Italy and possibly GD. Wonder if England will totally throw in the towel for their 3rd game? I think England's effort level will depend on the result of Italy-Costa Rica today. A draw or a Costa Rica win in that game and England is eliminated and likely throws in the towel in game 3. If Italy wins England still has a small chance of advancing.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 09:44 AM) I'm one who generally thinks that our society has gotten too PC, but I'm on the PC side on this one. Good job by USPTO. No need for this name to exist any more. I agree with this. I think people are way too sensitive these days but no matter where you draw the line, Redskins should be on the wrong side of it.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 18, 2014 -> 10:24 AM) Would he learn how to shoot if he was on the Bulls? He has shot basically the same percentage from 3 every year so far in the NBA. He wouldn't be quite as efficient playing for Chicago as for San Antonio because the Bulls roster lacks guys who can shoot and create but he would still be a really good player.

2014 FIFA World Cup
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 17, 2014 -> 03:30 PM) As bad as they were in the hex, they still only gave up 9 goals in 10 games. Of course, they only scored 7, so it's not surprising that they've had a 1-0 game followed by a game that is scoreless with under 20' left. As well as Ochoa has played, they still have needed to get really lucky multiple times today for it to still be 0-0.

The USA is getting badly outplayed in the 2nd half so far. They really need to start doing a better job keeping possession.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 11:38 AM) Yes! Red card for Pepe! This game could not be going any better. I wouldn't mind seeing Portugal pick up a few more cards and have Germany win about 6-0.

QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) Disagree. Germany look to be the class of this group. I would expect them to win all three games comfortably. In the race for 2nd place it benefits the US if Portugal don't get anything here. Agreed. The USA definitely wants a Germany blowout here.

2014 White Sox draft pick thread
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) no clue. I just know they think the offer is good enough to get it done. Does the organization think they have any chance at signing Montes de Oca after getting things done with Rodon? As long as they sign Rodon it was a successful draft but I'm curious as to whether they are going to make a push for Montes de Oca as well.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 16, 2014 -> 09:12 AM) Aren't Bulls fans worried that the management is going to use the Spurs as an excuse to stand pat? How so? The Spurs were one play away from winning the championship in 2013 and have a vastly superior roster to the Bulls. The Bulls haven't been remotely close to winning a title since 1998.

NBA Thread 2013-2014
QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 08:46 PM) The Spurs aren't necessarily the more talented team but I'd say their overall talent level is generally underrated. MIA has the two best players though and you don't often see teams with two players better than all the other team's players lose. The Spurs roster is fantastic. You have a great all around center in Duncan, athletic wings who can knock down shots, 8 guys in your rotation who shoot 35% from 3 or better (I'm rounding up Ginobili's %), every one they play is a threat on offense, and nearly all the guys in their rotation are multi dimensional offensive players. And we literally just saw the Spurs beat a team with the two best players in the series when they beat the Thunder. And I'm not convinced Wade is really a better player than Duncan or Parker right now.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 13, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) Spain better worry about GD now Their game against Chile is a must win now (assuming Chile beats Australia tonight). I can't see them advancing if they draw that game.
