  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) It sounds crazy by Hakeem is my all-time favorite player. Even saying that, i would rank him behind all of those guys. Those guys are first tier elite centers. The Dream was in the next group. He had a game that was completely different too. I have never seen a big man so comfortable and easy with the ball. I would take Hakeem 100 times out of 100 over Russell and never think twice about it.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 11:57 PM) Cmon now... Don't get me wrong, LeBron needs to play better but he didn't disappear in the 4th quarter tonight like he did in game 4. He still needs to be more assertive and attack the basket more when his jumper isn't dropping like the last couple of games but he was really good at creating easy looks for his teammates in the 4th quarter tonight. Completely different performance from his complete no show in game 4.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Lebron fails to show up again. I know he had a triple double but it was an unimpressive fashion. Unacceptable for your only 4th quarter points to come on a gimme layup with 20 seconds left when the other team is just trying to not foul, enspecially when you are the best player in the game. He no showed the 4th quarter of game 4 but he didn't tonight. His passing was exceptional in the 4th quarter as all of his assists lead directly to layups or dunks and the Heat were running everything through Wade not LeBron tonight so he wasn't going to score a ton.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) Really? Or is my sarcasm meter broken? That was a really clear block by Chandler.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) What a terrible charge call on LBJ. Yep, that took at least 2 probably 3 points of the board for the Heat.
  6. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) Like I said, do some research before commenting. Perea was discovered by Scott Drew's contacts in South America. He tried to stash him on the east coast but could not find a program that would allow him a visa to stay in the USA. He had to turn to AHOPE. Adam's organization is for African players, but decided to do Scott a favor because of his ties with his father, Homer Drew. Hanner had NO ONE here, nothing, unlike most of the kids from AHOPE who at least have a relative or two. Adams opted for legal guardianship of Hanner because like I said, he had nothing. This was when Hanner was 14, 6'4 and started playing basketball days prior. But yea, I'm sure Adams just predicted Hanner would turn into a superstar. give me a break. As for his son being on the IU staff, you're right Drew was on the IU staff. He's now on the New Mexico staff, so if he was such a HUGE influence as you're implying, why isn't Perea now switching to NM? Drew Adams played at Iowa, got an assistant coaching job at Iowa, then got a job assisting at the University of Tennessee before an IU job opened up. It's not like he isn't qualified. Hilarious, your move. I'll actually pretty much admit defeat because I admit I was basing this off of the ESPN article and frankly don't really give a damn, so I'm not going and never would have spent time researching but you aren't going to convince me that this isn't at least a little bit shady and this is also a pretty gigantic loophole in the NCAA rules. So basically, if I become a legal guardian to a top prospect I could give him a bunch of benefits and then funnel him to Illinois? Also, clearly if Scott Drew was interested in Perea the kid had a ton of talent and it was pretty obvious he would at least be a good player even when he first came over so I'm not buying that Adams didn't have a pretty damn good idea that Perea was going to be a really good player.
  7. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) Lets not use logic here. Actually though, it was 2 walk-ons that were left. Taber and Finklemeyer. Speaking of using logic, you are really going to take the position that there is nothing shady about an AAU coach becoming the legal guardian to a basektball player and providing that kid with benefits and it just so happens that the kid in question picks a school where said AAU coach's son was currently working and where said AAU coach has connections.
  8. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) McGary would have been a lock for IU had he qualified for 2011. The 2012 class is already #1 in the country and Crean has set his sights on Gary Harris for the final slot. I'd love to have both, but the scholarship situation isn't going to let it happen. McGary has been a beast this summer, but he's also over a year older than all the kids he's playing. The sky is the limit for Harris, and he's also one of the youngest kids in 2012. As for UCONN, they just lost two scholarships because of failing grades from the APR. Not sure where the hell they are getting these scholarships. The Indiana North South all star game exhibition between Srs. and Jrs. continues tonight at Kokomo. The amount of talent in that game rivals any large AAU tournament you'll see this summer. The amount of talent in this state through 2014 is staggering. Zeller, Teague, and Dawson lit it up for the seniors Monday, winning 117-113. Zeller led the way with 27 pts and 19 rbds, Teague had around 25 and 8 assists I believe. IU's class is very good but it won't stay #1 and there has to be a pretty big question whether Perea will even be eligible to play college basketball based on the illegal benefits he has received during HS. That whole Indiana Elite program is incredibly shady at best.
  9. How do you let someone get behind you there? Incredible fail by Dallas.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Zone works against Miami because they want to drive and iso, you never really see them run any play that would take advantage of zone and for the most part they arent deadly behind the arc. Spoelstra's "offense" is horrendous.
  11. LOFL at Shawn Marion talking s*** after banking in a runner.
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) Gotta say how much I love the rapid fire MLB draft. As a prospect geek and a fan of college baseball this is how it should be. None of that 4 hours for 60 picks crap. Especially since there aren't trades and the teams clearly knew who they were taking well within the allotted time yesterday but seemingly were forced to wait until time expired to make their picks.
  13. This kid is throwing batting practice. Stanford is crushing everything.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 10:01 PM) That has to be the upset of the year in the tourney. Illinois over Fullerton? Get out. If Illinois beats Stanford tonight with the pitcher they have going it would have to be one of the biggest upsets in the NCAA tourney history. He has started only 4 games this year for Illinois and has an era of 7.82.
  15. That was clearly a foul on Marion. Wow that that wasn't called.
  16. So how come nobody is complaining about Dallas getting all the calls tonight?
  17. Udonis Haslem is doing a terrible job on the pick and roll right now, you can't lost track of Dirk after you hedge.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Could be enough, but why are you settling for could? You are asking the wrong guy. I have been ripping on Miami's offensive sets all year.
  19. Despite the fact that Miami has been the clear aggressor going to the rim in the game tonight, Dallas has gotten to the line a lot more during this game. Just thought I would point that out for all the officiating favoring the Heat is killing the NBA people
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) For all their star power, Miami just runs such a bad offensive set. This is a team that struggles to get to 100 points on a consistent basis. They are relying entirely on pure talent on the offensive end. And pure talent very well could be enough to win them the title.
  21. Great win for Illinois, regardless of what happens against Stanford this has been a really good season for Illinois baseball. Will be interesting to see who starts for Illinois tonight.
  22. 7-4 Illini in the bottom of the 8th. Nice.
  23. Chris Bosh continues to play terrible basketball.
  24. Wow, Illinois ties up Cal St. Fullerton in the bottom of the 7th. The problem is even if they do pull off the upset in this one (and I still fully expect Fullerton to pull this out) I have no clue who will start for Illinois against Stanford because they really only have 3 legitimate starting pitchers.
  25. How the f*** was that possibly called a strike? Not even close.
