  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) McCamey was a positive today I thought. He shot very poorly (2-10 overall, 2-6 on 3's), but he had 5 assists and zero turnovers. To do that in that environment is a big plus. And I still wish Mike Davis would play more. McCamey has to finish stronger at the rim but he is starting to look like a very good PG. Still makes some dumb plays but that is to be expected from a freshmen. He is taking to long to get his shot up (the reverse layups took way to long, needs to get the ball up much quicker). I think Davis and Tisdale both show flashes of being very good players. Both need to hit the weight room hard over the off season. Tisdale is also clueless when it comes to rotating on defense. He seems to think about where he needs to go on defense rather than just reacting. Makes him look a lot slower on D than he really is IMO. Part of the problem from playing D in HS where all he was asked to do was stand under the rim and try to block shots.
  2. QUOTE(gbuk @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) Too bad it took Weber this long to figure out that in order to win you have to have good players. Some are stubborn enough and arrogant enough that they think they can do it with players not nearly as talented as the big time recruits...laziness takes affect and it shows. Has Weber taken that route? I'm not exactly sure, but something clearly clicked in there. He went after big time recruits but just failed to land them until recently and Weber did a bad job recruiting but it actually had nothing to do with being lazy.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) Illinois plays close with a team way better than them, loses due to missed free throws, Illini fans think the refs are the reason the game went the way it did. Same stuff, different game, just like it will be when Illinois finds a way to lose to a brutal Michigan team coming up next. Pathetic, the Illini have mastered playing to the level of their competition, and always finding a way to lose regardless. I don't think it is the reason we lost. IU is better and they had to play poorly and Illinois had to play well for the game to be close. Those calls absolutely did affect the game. Talent is the real reason IU won today, but that doesn't change the fact that the officiating was awful (which is par for the course in the Big 10).
  4. QUOTE(farmteam @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) As to the chanting of "Shut up Weber:" Classless? Maybe. But, as has been pointed out, it's the same thing you'd see at any other arena in the nation. That type of stuff doesn't bother me. It is more fun when fan bases actually come up with something clever though.
  5. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 07:42 PM) Why did Rodney Alexander not play more today? Separated shoulder
  6. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) Almost as much as Illinois fans whine every game about the officiating, if that is possible. As I said that post was somewhat in jest as a lot of players complain a ton about officiating and Gordon was whining a ton after he got called for a foul 25 ft from the basket. Pruitt is as bad as they come as he was pouting throughout the game today. I do complain a lot about officials during Illinois games, this is the only game this year I thought they negatively affected the outcome for us. We may not have won anyways but there were some embarrassing bad calls today. The ball was clearly off IU with 50 seconds left and they give it to IU. At the very least since they had no idea who it was off of that needs to be a jump ball (not sure who would have gotten the ball). Ratliff basically punching Brock in the face and not getting an intentional foul. MEacham literally not touching Ratliff and getting called for a foul and then on the rebound of a miss from the FT line an Illinois player gets pushed to the floor with no call. I'm sure we got calls as well over the course of the game, but nothing like those. I also complain about officiating across the board, not just in games involving Illinois. Big 10 officials flat out suck at their jobs. I know it not an easy sport to officiate but there is no consistency and refs are constantly making calls when out of position. There have been games over the last couple of years where I thought Illinois was helped by the officials, and I still say the officiating sucked. Xavier game from the UC immediately comes to mind.
  7. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) i haven't been able to find that prediction, although i don't doubt that it was made. if you check back a page or so you'll note i called illinois's fans out for their homerism as well. anyhow, i and many of the illini fans here understood that this wasn't going to be a great year. i was hoping that a weak big ten would propel the team into the tournament, but i probably underestimated how poorly we'd perform in the pre-conference schedule. I thought we could finish 3-5 based mostly on how weak the Big 10 is.
  8. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) Yeah I guess he did just make 2/2 so the law of averages was against him. I still think Randall shooting is basically the worst option. Agreed. And that is the problem with having no timeouts in that situation. I have no idea what he was thinking there and the thing he is actually played a very good game before that. I know Pruitt had hit two in a row, but 4 in a row just wouldn't happen and he has already missed Fts that could have put Illinois ahead this year in similar situation.
  9. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) Well not sure what Randle was thinking, why not dump it into Pruitt and just for the tie? Maybe even get the 5th on DJ White and go to OT? Illini could have easily won that game, Im not sure how any objective observer can say that Indiana is that much more talented than Illinois in any way shape or form. The difference is basically Eric Gordon. Even then, the Illini could have won. And the Indiana fans yelling shut up Weber, how classy. With a coach like Sampson how can you possibly thow stones? He is the most classless and sanctioned coach in the Big 10. Problem with going into Pruitt is IU could just foul and there is no way he makes the FTs.
  10. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) Which one, lol? Looked like Ratliff had ball on the rebounded shot though. Ratliff reached in and fouled him.
  11. No foul on IU there? Really? Edit: No doubt foul on IU there.
  12. How can you possibly just call that IU's ball? F'ing pathetic. That should be our ball.
  13. IU got so lucky on that last possession annd than Meacham with the big answer.
  14. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) Are you serious? Gordon is not known to show much emotion at all. He's a teenager though, it does come out sometimes. A little hyperbole after he was whining a ton after a call.
  15. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) I think it's safe to say these teams do not like each other. Ellis really lost his cool there.
  16. Gordon whines more than Pruitt when a call goes against him. Didn't think that was possible.
  17. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jan 13, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) IU is faster and more athletic at every position. Those calls are fouls. Ratliff didn't get touched and Ellis just shoved Brock out of the way for IU's putback. But yeah you are right.
  18. IU getting all the calls. Ratliff didn't even get touched there, just flat out blew the layup. May have helped us though.
  19. Well I was wrong about Norv Turner. I think the Chargers get drilled next week though.
  20. MSU only scores 36 pts in a loss to Iowa tonight. The Big 10 freaking sucks. Good win for Iowa though.
  21. QUOTE(SnB @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) Randle goes up for the drunk, instead the ball gets caught inbetween the rim and backboard, what a joke he is. In other news, Illini are miraculously only down 6 with 13 minutes left against wiscy. Shooting around 30%, sweet. I can't wait for Randle to graduate.
  22. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jan 8, 2008 -> 06:29 PM) FYI, if the Plus 1 system was in place this year, the matchups would have been as follows: 1. Ohio State vs. 4. Oklahoma 2. LSU vs. 3. VA Tech USC and Georgia should all just shut the f*** up. I know they were playing well at the end of the year, but they didn't do enough to belong, even in the Plus 1 model. It's easy crowing from the outside. I hope that if we do get a playoff they go all the way and make it at least 8 teams. Have all 6 major conference champions and use the BCS formula to pick the two at large teams.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) I won't disagree, but LSU is a pretty good team too Absolutely but Todd Boeckman simply should not be the QB of a team in the NC game. He holds the ball way too long and makes awful decisions under pressure. Haven't been impressed with him at all regardless of what his numbers were. Another comment after watching tonights game, in this day an age your QB absolutely has to be mobile with the speed of a lot of these defenses (unless you just have overwhelming talent surrounding him like USC with Leinart).
  24. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) Or LSU is just really good. No he sucks.
