Not if its a plastic cup with beer. I'm pretty calm under most circumstances and have been hit with a beer before by some drunk guy and I basically did just walk away. If I was drunk I might not have reacted quite differently though. In the case of a professional athlete who is making millions of dollars you just can't act that way though. You point the guy out to security have them deal with it and thats the end of it. Now if I am getting pelted as the Pacers were once the situation got out of hand, then I probably do act as Artest did.
-
I have no idea who threw it, but I know one thing, if I throw something at a crazey motherf***er like Ron Artest I'm going to act like I didn't do anything.
-
I'm not defending the fans though. They were the worst culprits in this whole thing but saying that Ron Artest was in the right by going and attacking the guy is ludicrous.
-
Think what you want, but some people actually have control over themselves and don't let themselves get sucked into fights. If Ron Artest is physically harmed or is in danger, fine beat the s*** out of the guy, but you have a beer thrown at you and you feel the need to run through the stands to find a guy you think might have done it and assault him, thats clearly crossing the line.
-
That guy wasn't even close to Artest.
-
Well neither did Artest obviously cause he went after the wrong guy.
-
I might push you, but thats about it. And besides, Ron Artest going after and assaulting an innocent fan kind of defeats the purpose of your analogy anyway. And if you think this is human nature, how come this doesn't happen everytime players have stuff thrown at them, if they did there would be incidents like this all the time.
-
Tell you to get the f*** away from me. I don't immediately go charging after you to beat the s*** out of you.

Illinois is a top 5 team, how is that not getting respect. -
Its still a plastic cup. Plus, he has more than just the option of going into the stands or laying there, he walks away end of incident. And if you do go into the stands, you better be damn sure that you at least go after the culprit, Jim Gray is saying that the guy who Artest went after was not the person who threw the cup. So basically Artest assaulted an innocent bystander, but lets keep defending him.

Delaware St. played a lot of zone tonight, especially in the first half. -
It was a plastic cup, not a bottle. It may not seem like much but that is a huge difference. A plastic cup is no threat to injure you, a bottle would be. If it was a bottle then Artest may have been justified, for a plastic cup, not so much.

It works for me.
-
Actually I'm 100% sure I wouldn't go into the stands for someone throwing a beer at me. I'm not that stupid.
-
Saw it, the Pistons fans were totally classless and out of line during the brawl. However, Ron Artest should never have gone into the stands. It was a f***ing plastic cup, anyone defending Artest is nuts. There are so many things that are wrong with this incident its unbelievable. Ben Wallace should get a lot of the blame to, the foul by Artest was a cheap shot in that type of game where the outcome is decided but he went way overboard.

Syracuse takes down Memphis and they look really strong. Palehose, I know that UNC was without Felton, but what the f***. Santa Clara? Those guys lost to New Mexico by over 30 points last week. -
Yeah, that was real cool. :rolly

Did you watch Gordon at UCONN? The only position he played there was SG and he is a natural scorer, he is about as much of a PG as Allen Iverson. -

Don't believe the hype, I've watched him play quite a bit and Daniel Horton is not a great point guard. I'm not sure I would even classify him as a good PG at this point in time, his career assist to TO ratio is about 1.1/1 which is awful for a PG. Essentially Horton has been a scorer who gets really hot ocassionally and keeps his team in games but other that really doesn't produce. -
When they chose Kobe over Shaq.

I agree and I would have called Ohio earlier, but everyone knew that if Bush won Ohio he won the election, hence if he wins Ohio there is no drama. If there isn't any drama than less people tune in. Plus, I think the networks were a little gun shy on just about every race following the f*** up in 2000.

Finally some good news on the recruiting front for Illinois as we got Charles Jackson a 6-8 about 270 lbs PF from Georgia. From what I've heard and seen from his football video (he was a very highly regarded TE/OL prospect) and a couple clips of him from his AAU basketball team, he had very good hands for a big guy, very good footwork, and decent speed but he is not an explosive leaper by any stretch. Welcome to the Illini family CJ

I think the only reason CNN and some of the other networks kept Ohio as TCTC for so long was to keep people interested for as long as possible.

Neither Bush nor Kerry would institute the draft because they and their party would be commiting political suicide. Unless something major happens the support just isn't there to reinstitute the draft.

I don't see any way Obama is on the ticket for '08. 2012 is much more likely.
