QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) And when one gets shot in a freaking war zone, most people with clear minds don't go bezerk with outrage. *Cough Daniel Pearl Cough*

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) Orbitz.com rules. There's no guessing or bidding, the detailed intinerary is right there. The total you see on the screen is the grand total including taxes, no hidden costs. You should read what happened to Maddox -- they sold him an impossible travel itinerary & wouldn't refund it.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Probably something like she was drunk and transposed numbers... Either that or someone whipped out a fake number on her ass. Just finished the article. It was the 7 year old kid of the fam she stayed with in the Simple Life.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/strange...x?storyid=33322 A Maryland family has had to change its phone number, because seven-year-old Josh Eisner was being bombarded with calls from strangers around the world. It turns out the boy's number was listed on the cell phone that belonged to celebrity Paris Hilton when the phone was hacked-into last month.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) No, I think he's saying that it doesn't matter because that is how it is going to be viewed by many. Bush and co. have been teflon lately so it probably doesn't matter domestically. However, it might be bad for recently improved euro relations. Ding ding ding! Correct!

I just recall a quote from one of my favorite movies, Cool Hand Luke: "What we've got here is a failure to communicate." I would think if an operation like this was going down, the Italian bureaucrats in the military operations there would have informed everybody to be on the lookout for it at least. But either way, as sociologists' Thomas Theorem would say "Those things perceived as real are real in their consequences." so this could be a huge s*** sandwich for the PR Department of the Bushies trying to make it look like this is all running smoothly.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) Anyone thinking that the Italians may want to even up? Paging Geraldo Rivera to Baghdad....... But who is gonna open the next Capone vault?

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Huh, a college boy calling people names over an internet message board on a Friday night while "drunk." Yes, you're cool. Chisoxy, its central Illinois -- What do you want us to do eat corn and soybeans?

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) i'm so tired of listening to drunks today. have fun tommorow, karma's a b****. Exactly. Some drunk f*** picked a fight with a guy in front of CO's. I was on the way to get a coffee & say hi to a friend that works at the Espresso Royale on the corner. I had to duck a punch walking by because these two drunk frat bastards didn't have the sobriety to f***ing hit one another. I wish that their parents' HMO plan had an option for abortion I am so sick of this goddamn day that I could shoot blood out of my eyes. As my friend Dann said today: But today is my least favorite day of the year. From the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep completely sober, I have a massive chip on my shoulder. A plague of green-clad, suburb-dwelling mutant locusts descends on Champaign-Urbana once every year. Their sole mission in life: Spend all nineteen hours that some campus bars remain open on this day getting completely drunk. To what do I owe this plague? They call it Unofficial. Unofficial St. Patrick's Day has become something of a tradition on this campus, on par with having no front seven on the football team or claiming residency in a city one's parents live sixty miles away from. Apparently, St. Patrick's day always fell either during spring break or in the midst of spring semester midterms. Brilliant enablers and problem drinkers, these Hellenicized parasites are. If they were going to be unable to make it out to St. Patrick's Day, they were going to damn well bring the day to them. It began with C.O. Daniel's, the bar whose claim to fame is that you have less of a chance of becoming infected with an airborne sexual disease there than at neighboring establishment Kam's. The beer apparently flows and goes down green and invariably makes a return visit in a similar hue. Over time, St. Patrick's Day has been transformed from a traditional Catholic feast day into a secular holiday celebrating Irish heritage and culture. Dublin, Ireland, has an annual cultural festival that attracts thousands of people from all over the country and Europe. American cities with large Irish populations, such as New York City, Boston and Chicago have parades. Chicago dyes the Chicago River green (they do so fine a job it stays that way year-round). But this international celebration of Irish culture has been expanded beyond this secular celebration. Granted, the wearing of the green has been accompanied by the drinking of the ale, but the sense of community fostered by this celebration has been demeaned by the perpetrators of this cultural travesty called Unofficial into obnoxiously oafish drunkenness with no socially or culturally redeeming value.

There's always been sexual thoughts, its just up to the parents to "Control" the "Chaos" (sorry, had to do that, haha) As a kid reaches puberty, he's gonna be interested in the opposite sex, etc. and the absolute worst thing a parent can do is completely deny it like it doesn't exist. That just leads to uninformed choices for the kids, makes it look a lot more appealing and leads to much more risk behavior. (The same can be said about drugs etc.) How about an actual discussion of a risk-benefit analysis? I think if parents stop letting the TV, PlayStation, X-Box or the computer be the child's babysitter then we wouldn't have to blame "movies, TV, video games" etc. for the ills of the world. There's always been violence and sex -- so its obvious that these current incarnations in movies etc. are not the cause of the problems -- its just another symptom of poor parenting (i.e. putting GTA: San Andreas in the hands of a 6 year old) blaming something convenient instead of parents taking responsibility for the little cabbages they spit out.

I have to do a lame ass e-Portfolio for school and we need to introduce new bullet point .jpgs in it. Anybody know of a few sites where I could find some interesting, non-crappy/annoying bullet point .jpg files to use?

Since we're fully engaged in endorsing stereotypes of races (Nobody ever goes 60+ days without eating to consider themselves, Irish ::see H Block Hunger Strikes of 1981:, how about we have more Unofficial holidays? Perhaps Unofficial Martin Luther King Jr. Day? We can sell 40s, fried chicken and watermelon...and perhaps even wear blackface (just like the Asian/Indian kids with "Kiss me! I'm Irish!" shirts on) Its the same thing -- endorsing stereotypes of a culture. After 1 drunk asshole in my class making us miss important information for our test & pissing the TA off enough that she wouldn't tell the other 20+ of us who were sober the information, Unofficial can go suck a fat dick. Unofficial St. Patricks' Day: Giving non-Irish people the ability to be f***ing assholes. "We must see our present fight right through to the very end. Generations will continue to meet the same fat unless the perennial oppressor, Britain, is removed. For she will unashamedly and mercilessly continue to maintain her occupation and economic exploitation of Ireland to judgment day if she is not halted and ejected." --Bobby Sands, martyr of the 1981 H Block Irish Hunger Strikes

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) i've been using mytunes (itunes hack that allows you to download from people on your network) since september. No problems at all. They've given up on severe discipline with this stuff, they'll just slow you down for a few days. They shut us (me and DK) down for about a week. We had to send an e-mail apologizing to the Housing Director and saying we'd never do it again. Then after that they turned us back on. We only got nailed because there was so much traffic going on the Direct Connect++ hub we were using that they couldn't help but notice.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) Hey guys, I know that I'm a controversial poster here at soxtalk, but I respect this community a lot, regardless of beliefs, and love when we pull together for each other. That being said, I just wanted to let you know that the bank I work at got robbed tonight, and I had all the money from my drawer stolen by a guy pointing a gun at me. It just happened hours ago and as a part of my coping process, I knew that having your thoughts and prayers on my side, I'll be that much better. I won't get into specifics, but it was a crazy experience....and I thought my accident this summer was scarey. One thing that I'm joyful to look back on, was that my first thoughts during the robbery were on God and asking for his protection over the 4 of us employees involved. No one was hurt and money can be replaced. I just want to thank you in advance for your kind words and prayers. Sincerely, Alex Holy hell.

Except if your housing notices the tons of activity, looks into what is being shared that is taking up so much bandwidth and shuts down your connections. I know -- speak from personal experience.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) Very interesting, but I don't think it would have changed anything. They might have moved towards the world a little more, but there still would have been the same torture and murder going on there. After reading about how the guy tortured athletes and murdered people for fun, I can't see Uday's regime being any different than Saddam's. Its just an interesting aside. I mean they are dicks -- just an interesting theory if true. -
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/a...up_050302224052 The eldest son of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) was plotting to overthrow his father just as US troops advanced on Baghdad in March 2003, journalist Peter Arnett claimed in Playboy Magazine. Uday Hussein, known for his ruthlessness and flashy lifestyle, had won the support of the leadership of his father's Fedayeen militia to overthrow Saddam's 35-year rule, according to an advance copy of the April edition of Playboy obtained by AFP.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) Oh man, funny ass picture. And Kip, don't be shocked if you like O'Reilly. As far as I'm concerned he does a lot to just try and be unbiased so to speak. I enjoy the show but sometimes I think hes so freaking wrong. I only watch this stuff on ocassion though because if you watch everyday during a week you basically hear the same crap over and over. Oh ya, and Greta on FoxNews is absolutely god awful. My life would be complete if I never had to see another glimse of her awful show. I had how all she focuses on is the stupid trials in america. Who gives a rat ass about all these celebrity trials???? I sure as hell don't. But you mean that Robert Blake hiring a hitman is not important?

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Jose Padilla can kiss my ass...there's enough info out there for me to know that. They can hold him forever for all I care. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0601042padilla1.html If they have all this information then here is a novel idea -- Bring charges against him & try him in court.
