  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 18, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) GP, I'm sure you have more details than I do on this, but I did hear a snipit that from the tox report is was found that the child was sedated before he was smothered. Yeah -- all three had therapeutic levels of Xanax in their blood. Nancy had other painkillers in her blood (she was recovering from surgery) and Benoit had elevated levels of testosterone. However, the ME said that the testosterone levels were a "mystery" and stated that they could not definitively be linked to recent steroid use/abuse. The full details of the tox reports and press conference are on the first page of the new Squared Circle thread.
  2. Orton is growing on me. Either keep his promos very short so he can't mess them up/lose the audience or get him a Sunny like hottie with actual speaking ability for a manager and that would be a vast improvement. Then if he would implement a few more higher impact moves into his repetoire pre-rKo to make his matches a bit more entertaining, I could see myself not minding if he got a secondary title run and/or eventually got built as a legit main event heel. As for now, I'm happy just watching 5 DVD's worth of ROH (Reborn Stage 1, Reborn Stage 2, World Title Classic, Joe/Punk II and All Star Extravaganza 2) And in other news, my friend and old roommate Dann just made the cuts in the tryouts at the Texas Wrestling Academy. So, he is going to be training with the guy (Rudy Gonzalez) who trained AmDrag, Spanky, Hernandez, et al. to become a professional wrestler.
  3. For the first time in a long time, he actually was able to prevent shots from going off. Zing?
  4. And SmackDown spoiler! (already up on WWE.com) spoiler: Edge had to relinquish the strap due to a torn pectoral. The new SD champ is the Great Khali. And who else is kind of enjoying the reworking of Johnny Nitro as John Morrison? He needed to get away from that stale, not-working gimmick and get something fresh without that albatross. The writing staff seemed to do that pretty well. Let's see how they bring this about further in development of the character.
  5. Don't know who saw but they released the tox reports today. Nancy Benoit • 3 drugs hydrocodone, hydromorphone, xanax • therapeutic level. Blood .184 (decomposition process) Daniel Benoit • positive for xanax (elevated, not normally given to kids)..Sedated at the time he died Chris Benoit • xanax, hydrocodone (therapeutic range, not elevated), only steroid testerone - 207 micrograms per liter.. Xanax • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xanax Hydrocodone - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocodone Hydromorphone - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydromorphone - Daniel’s body was starting to show signs of decomposition, but investigators couldn’t determine if the boy was injected with GHB due to a lack of a quality urine sample. - Examiners couldn’t ascertain if Daniel Benoit had Fragile X Syndrome. - Examiners found no evidence that Nancy Benoit was sedated. - Sperry didn’t have access to the WWE wellness policy test results for Chris Benoit on 4/10. - DA Scott Ballard opened the press conference, believing the case is still a murder/suicide. - Ballard said the investigation is still ongoing. - Dr. Kris Sperry, GA Chief Medical Examiner came to the podium. - Investigators said the body of Nancy was decomposing. Investigators found Xanax. - Investigators found Xanax, enough to be sedated before he was murdered. - Investigators found Xanax in Chris Benoit. Investigators found testosterone in the urine sample of Benoit. No other artificial steroids were found. No evidence of GHB was found in Daniel, Nancy or Chris Benoit. -- The medical examiner concluded that there is no way of telling whether Benoit's elevated testosterone was a result of recent steroid use. He called it a "mystery" - but said that Benoit may have been treated for a testosterone deficiency. So -- Nancy Grace, Faux News and those who were dead set that it was roid rage, how would you like your crow served? The media fails to get their roid rage story and now has to deal with a much more nuanced discussion about family issues and family life that possibly put Chris over the edge rather than a simple "HE WAS TEH ROIDH3AD!" prattling that they were very apt to use before these tox reports came out. Looks like the former wrestlers who wanted to use this as opportunism to get their 15 minutes of fame on the backs of Daniel, Nancy and Chris via steroids are going to be SOL. The more questions that get answered in this story, the more questions come about. I doubt we'll ever really know what sent Chris over the edge to put such a tragic series of events into motion.
  6. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) Dont know if this has been posted, but its very interesting. Chris Hero goes after some fans. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/26569/ i cant decide who was more ignorant, im leaning towards Hero Being the A+ #1 Chris Hero mark here at Soxtalk.com, (Chris is awesome clap clap clapclapclap!) here's the story from wrestlinggonewrong.com to get a fuller understanding of what happened there. During the match, Chris Hero, playing the part of the heel, started antagonizing the crowd. One group of fans, however, became a little to involved with giving his character heat. Hero walked to the edge of the ring where one of the men spit water on him from their front row seat, while another one acted as if he was going to jump the guard rail. Hero walked to the outside and asked one of the fans to hit him in a mocking tone. The fan tap-slapped Hero's face, which caused Hero to sucker-punch the fan moments later breaking that fans nose. While no racist remarks are heard on the footage, the fan started claiming that Hero used racist terms on him and that Hero hit him because the fan was black. Moments later, while Hero and M-Dogg were on the outside near those fans, the same one slapped Hero on the back, then a second fan tried a knife-edge chop on Hero. He finally had enough and started swinging at the fan as a security guard pulled him back. Hero was able to throw a chair at the fan before the match continued. Chris Hero told SlamWrestling "I wasn't completely in the right, but I know I wasn't in the wrong. A fan hit me. Fans should never hit a wrestler. I'm never going to go out of my way and hit a fan for doing nothing. But once he put his hands on me, (I felt he had) crossed the line. I know two wrongs don't make a right, but I think I was justified in what I did. But I hope, and I don't think it will happen again next time."
  7. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) I saw Nancy Grace as well tonight. What a cluster of a show. They would comeback from commercial for 30 seconds than go back to commercial. The worst was when they showed the list of dead wrestlers and she tried to say they were a result of steroid use and I saw about 5 suicides, a couple of car wrecks, and more heart attacks. What a bag of wind. No credibility and so closed minded. How'd Finlay come off? I'd expect Nancy "demotion from the Four Horsemen to Raw" Grace look like a total idiot with a complete lack of research and knowledge of the product though. Funny how many critics of the product end up being the most uniformed and unprepared to discuss the product.
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) Current wrestlers are generally not being allowed to comment by WWE, so there's some reason for it, but I'm sure Fox isn't breaking down the WWE's doors for credible sources. Finlay is going to be on Nancy Grace tonight to feed Marc Mero his own opportunist ass. Mero is so pathetic, using this to get his 15 minutes of fame. Eric Bischoff with a great commentary on the issue. Get the hook! Not because of the horrific act of an obviously troubled individual, who until a few weeks ago was a respected part of the sports-entertainment business. I don’t believe that the Benoit tragedy is representative of the business, or more importantly the people who are a part of it. Chris Benoit had psychological problems. The root cause of those problems will debated for months to come. As well they should be. By experts. Not by the parade of clowns who are fighting for their last 60 seconds of fame on cable news programs that are clearly sensationalizing and exploiting this situation for one reason and one reason only: ratings. If there was any doubt about that, one need only look back at the list of idiots that have covered this story. Nancy Grace…give me a break. Or how about Bill O’ Reilly? “Hard Hitting Interview”? Since when is a half decade old out of context interview newsworthy? Can anyone seriously argue that news networks are not exploiting and spinning the sad death of a wife, son, and father for one reason and one reason only? But I’m not embarrassed by the obvious ethical/professional lapse of the cable news industry. I’ve never been in that business. Besides, we see it all the time. The most embarrassing thing for me over the past ten days has been watching the likes of Debra Marshall-Williams-McMicheals-Whoeversheisgoingtotaketothecleanersnext, Marc Mero, Lanny Poffo, et all fighting like a bunch of addicts at a crack festival, trying to become the spokesperson for an industry in which they have been irrelevant for years. If it were not for the painful circumstances surrounding this issue, these three would have a regular gig on Saturday Night Live. Hopefully accurate information will come out soon that will allow for a meaningful discourse surrounding this issue. In the meantime, somebody get the hook and get these clowns off the stage. -- Go Bisch. And oh yeah, Lacey is a really good wrestler and manager in SHIMMER/ROH. Her stuff with Lacey's Angels and the feuds of Jimmy Jacobs/BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs/Colt Cabana are must sees for high quality wresting and storytelling.
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Her name is Rain. Guess she works with Lacey outside of ROH. She works in SHIMMER, Prazak's womens' wrestling promotion. They are a tag team known as the Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew.
  10. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:31 PM) Sorry if I'm pushing into this, but how did Molly die again? She didn't. Crash did. Suicidal pill overdose in 2003. Miss Nora Greenwald is still alive and well.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Locked? Or a source of info? I disagree about the info. It's a great source. We're all wrestling fans posting what's reported and linking and so it's good for that. He meant it shouldn't get locked. So no tizzy.
  12. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:51 PM) Enough with the baiting in this thread, if you're just looking for trouble--don't post in the thread. Now that you've been warned, anything else will result in suspensions. Gratzi. This Benoit thing may end up causing the industry to lessen the days that the workers are available, a more stringent testing program and having more on-site medical facilities available (both mental and physical). It may also end up having the E re-assess its' "image" of the wrestlers they go after. If the E can ride out the "roid rage" storm of lazy reporting (I mean, tox reports aren't in yet, he had a negative test in April and there is no direct evidence that he injected but that could change within the timeframe of the tox report being released), then it could survive well. I'm more surprised that the media hasn't given more screen time/page space to the issues of child care (especially special education) when it comes to two professionals working and coping mechanisms of some families in dealing with having a special needs child. But I guess that isn't nearly as flashy as steroids given the hullabaloo in Congress, etc. recently. If anything, the whole issue of child care and the possibility of neglect/abuse/parental issues coming out of this got me off my ass and I am going to start volunteering at a local Crisis Nursery (a 24-7-365 care center for people who have crises and no safe place to watch/play/feed their kids for a time period).
  13. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) You are so jaded and clueless. There's so many quotes to choose from, perhaps he's just having difficulty paring it down to just one. Yes, that is what his backing down right now and not posting must be. But then, it allows for terribly funny non sequitor sigs like: "Soxtalk: Want to be personally attacked by a mod? Just post your beliefs that there is no excuse for murder and that steroids don't lead to excellence. That should do the trick." There are justifications for murder, even the law recognizes that -- hence different degrees, manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter et al. And I never said that steroids led to excellence. Hell, the toxicology reports haven't come in but 101's crystal ball divining must already know the results! Hell, throw away his negative drug test from April and no 100% proof that he had been taking steroids! Who needs facts when you have emotional babble! But way to be accurate there, troll.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) You and several others have spent almost the entire thread defending his actions via excuses for them. It's always "it's a terrible thing he did, but". There should be no but, he's a juiced up freak who killed his wife and kid just for the hell of it. Troll. If we spent the entire thread defending him being a murderer, then it should be no problem to quote them. C'mon, just a quote of mine where I said I defended and condoned Chris's actions after the murder suicide was confirmed. Just one quote, troll. PS: Excellent sig, troll. I believe the appropriate terminology you would look for is non sequitor.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) Your not killing trolls, your dumbing down the area. Kinda like wrestling and the Cubs do with their fanbases, so don't give yourself too much credit. I just love being a troll for not defending a double murderer and steroid use, it is cute. Show me a quotation where I defended what Benoit did. C'mon, just simply show me a quote that I made defending his actions after the information came out that it was a confirmed murder/suicide. It should be easy, troll.
  16. Watching FOX News right now... We don't have toxicology reports back but "Roid Rage? What is it and did it cause this?" What whore reporting. Benoit was tested in April via the Wellness Policy and according to the SI reporter on there now, Benoit tested negative. They have no direct evidence of positive tests for illegal steroid use yet the whores in the media with the "roid rage" BS. Nobody knows yet and so therefore they chose not to wait to have all the facts in before they spewed. The E representative lawyer did a good job out there in the firefight. He was really hitting home the child care issue being a big problem for the entire family -- his road schedule not allowing him to be home as much to take care of his disabled child, trying to find an adequate school district for his child, his child just having special education needs (which can be a big issue for some parents -- wondering how the kid can have a disability and getting depressed about their own self-worth that they could have caused that error for their child) and other child care issues. It might be just much more coldly logical than we all originally thought.
  17. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) i still dont necessarily think its the right thing to do, however, to really try to relive those memories right now, but say Mark Buerhle or Paul Konerko were the ones to do this...it would certainly be hard to cope with the fact that some players that i loved for winning a world series were being cast as such villians...that said Benoit is a scumbag, but i recognize that it is difficult for some to come to those terms Exactly. I can still enjoy some old Pegasus Kid/Chris Benoit matches for what they were -- technical masterpieces. I can keep those fully divorced from what he became in his last days. Plenty of ball players were total and complete dicks off the field, but what they did on the field made me a fan. And oh yes, for the media people. If the E's 3 hr. retrospective to Benoit was in such bad taste to glorify a murderer, what do you call the constant and incessant media reporting on every last little horrid, grotesque and bizarre aspect of the Benoit family tragedy as if it is going out of style? It's the pot calling the kettle black for complaining that the E ran their show tastelessly and for ratings. The E had no idea at the time that Raw ran that Benoit was a murderer. The media does have the foresight of knowing that. So what's their excuse for this glorification and full on media attention to this orgy of violence?
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) Who is reporting you? The only thing you should be reported for is your hatred for Randy Orton. All you, Shadows, and I are doing is defending something we enjoy. Well, I am the Official Soxtalk Pro Wrestling Troll Killer. Its funny that all the trolls talk smack, get it thrown back at them and then run away. Looks like they found better bridges to live under. And for all the people who think that pro wrestlers are drug addict asshats, I give you the following: -http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0HED/is_6_19/ai_103691820 -Mick Foley's promotion of the Christian Childrens' Fund in his new book, bringing the idea of their organization to a demographic that may not have heard of it and have a role model of "The Hardcore Icon" leading them in donations to that organization -Their work numerous times with Make-a-Wish, even allowing a child to be an honorary Raw general manager and giving him the opportunity to announce the main event match for a recent PPV in front of millions of viewers -WWE's work with reading programs -WWE's work with promoting the medical care of young children who need it -WWE's hiring of workers who need help getting on their feet or need medical care (i.e. Paul Bearer getting hired simply so he could get gastric bypass paid for) -WWE's annual Tribute to the Troops by taking the top E talent to Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. and having them not only do meet and greets but perform an episode of Raw simply for the enjoyment of the soldiers But hey, they are just a bunch of roided up drug addicts who aren't professionals. And on the other hand, Orton is growing on me. If he keeps his mic time minimal and to the point, ups his in ring game a little bit (a few more moves with a little flair and high impact -- like the Hennig-esque somersault snapmare, more neckbreaker etc.) and keeps up a high level of intensity while keeping his nose clean backstage to avoid backlash, I may become an Orton mark. Then again, given Orton's backstage rep for baggage and toilets -- I would mark if they gave him a top rope cutter maneuver simply called "The Upper Decker".
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) LOL @ the Nancy Grace comment in your sig, LCR. Wish I saw it. Hopefully it will be on youtube soon. Well, it seems I may not be around too long. Trolls are reporting me for calling them like I see them because they don't have the courage to actually back up their trolling commentary. But hey, maybe I can make some money in the meantime by selling the trolls some genuine French military rifles -- never fired and only dropped twice.
  20. AP is reporting: In the days before pro wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife and child and hanged himself, the couple argued over whether he should stay home more to take care of their mentally retarded 7-year-old son, an attorney for the wrestling league said Wednesday. "I think it's fair to say that the subject of caring for that child was part of what made their relationship complicated and difficult, and it's something they were both constantly struggling with," said Jerry McDevitt, an attorney for World Wrestling Entertainment. "We do know it was a source of stress and consternation." McDevitt said the wrestling organization learned from the couple's friends and relatives that the Benoits were struggling with where to send the boy to school since he had recently finished kindergarten. He also said Benoit's wife didn't want him to quit wrestling, but she "wanted him to be at home more to care for the kid. She'd say she can't take care of him by herself when he was on the road." The child suffered from a rare medical condition called Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism, McDevitt said.
  21. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) Oh really? You can't make an excuse or defend a double murder? I didn't know that. Tragic it's been? It's not tragic for Benoit, it's tragic for the wife, kid, and anyone who loved them. You guys go on with your RIP Benoit stuff and have a ball. Such a tragedy, indeed. It's tragic for all involved. Who are you to be the Supreme Decision Maker of other peoples' emotions? Seriously, go find another bridge to live under, troll.
  22. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) I like how you started off your post talking about guys doing HGH, as if that compares to people murdering their wife and child. Man, some people are taking this death of a murderer much harder than others. Like Bernstein said, "Why should I care if he died?" Using drugs and ending their lives early is a life choice these guys make, just like a lot of NFL players have done. That's their choice. Also, I don't have to take a few "chops" to prove anything. That's another choice they make. I never said what they do is easy; however, it seems that a lot of them are using drugs up the wazoo, no? And not just ones to help them with their performance. However, me pointing out that they are indeed entertainers and not professional athletes is a fact, bottom line. I'm more or less LMAO at this people that are all RIP Benoit and stuff. Rest in peace? Because he deserves that. If you don't care, then don't comment. The fact that you're here only for the idea of stirring s*** because you don't care is f***ing laughable. It's like eating cereal with spoiled milk. If you don't like it, don't eat more. Throw it the f*** out. And the HGH, greenies etc. is because you insinuated that all/most wrestlers are on performing enhancing substances -- so I felt the need to address that issue that your "Why should I care [about pro wrestling]?" self brought up.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) Really.. ? You'd think in 20 years they would come up with a little better system. I remember a few times a wrist got accidentally cut. Not good. Sometimes the ref has it and gives it in mid-match to the wrestler and gives it back. Other times, they have it hidden in a wristband, etc. until the spot comes in. And Mass Transit incident (video -- graphic and NSFW) http://www.wrestlinggonewrong.com/video/ma...t_incident.html QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:57 PM) Can I talk about teachers? Would you be upset if I used that as a segway into Dean Douglas? Dean Douglas, the Genius and Matt Striker would be such a great stable.
  24. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) LOL RIP BENOIT Oh my god, because other sports athletes don't have drugs or commit violent crimes *cough some in the NBA are convicted criminals, Rae Carruth, Mike Vick, the high usage of HGH/steroids/greenies in baseball just for a small set of starters cough* Try running the ring ropes or taking a few chops or a few of the things they put their bodies through on a nightly basis before you spout off at the mouth and make yourself look like more of a dumb, ignorant motherf***er than you already appear. If you don't like professional wrestling, at least respect the risks they put themselves through for some peoples' entertainment. It's a certain modicum of respect given to any person. It's a tradition, really -- like the Illini football team having no front seven. I don't enjoy basketball but I don't go into threads and tell people I meet what I truly think of the sport and the people who play it on a professional level. Why? Because I'm not as much of a jackass and know that while it is not my cup of tea, it is still athleticism that I can respect because they train, practice and work their ass of to make money and entertain a segment of the population.
