  1. Vietnam Veterans Against the War did no such thing. I'm friends with a guy who has been in it since 1968 (after he got back from serving in-country) And Nuke, you have no sources to back this up. It just sounds like more apologists for Bush and the other Chickenhawks.
  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slant_drilling There's some slant drilling info for you Nuke. It's even from an encyclopedia. Just google "Kuwait slant drilling" and you get a lot of hits. Also, Nuke...if Iraq was such a huge threat then why have all the other countries in the region said they are not afraid of him?
  3. Didn't Kuwait defy international law when it slant drilled into Iraq? And also, what about April Glaspie (US Ambassador in Kuwait)'s statement to Saddam saying before Saddam invaded "The US has no stance on your border conflict." And Nuke, I'm still waiting for the "weapons of mass destruction related program activities" to be found. Can we say they're stretching for a real cause?
  4. Washington Times is highly biased and has been exposed by David Brock who used to work for them. Read his book sometime. Maybe if you had a paper that wasn't run by a guy who thought he was the Messiah, it'd be a bit more respected as a source.
  5. There is a difference between Clinton, Gore et al. that you mentioned and Bush. They didn't defy international law to invade another sovereign nation after knowingly lying (it's proven that Powell met with Blair and Bush the morning of Feb. 5 when he was going to give the UN speech and said "I'm not reading this. It's bulls***.") That's not even counting the uranium in the SotU speech lie, the 9/11 Iraq connection or the Osama/Iraq connection. And Nuke, if you're so worried about oppressive regimes, why have we propped up so many?
  6. Actually that was the findings of the US WMD team when they were in Iraq. But I guess they have a reason to be leftist.
  7. I talked to one of my friends who is really hardcore into Disney, owns stock and everything and he said that they are killing traditional animation in favor of computer generated animation simply because they see the bottom line dollar figure that Pixar is making more money. My friend and I were pissed too.
  8. I'm talking she's not hot cuz of that whole vehicular manslaughter and getting a walk thing.
  9. Roy Disney doesn't want Eisner in any more. So there is an attempt to get him kicked out and as SS2K4 said, it's turning into a real ugly power struggle. Disney also recently stopped all hand drawn animation and closed down one of their major studios that was devoted to that. They've seen the success of Pixar with computer animation so Disney wants to devote to that. Disney doesn't seem to realize that Pixar's movies are good not because of computer animation but because their stories are so much better. But alas, they're devoting their efforts to computer animation.
  10. After sending out a few cards to friends I'm gonna be going to an important conference with Jim, Jose, and Jack. And this girl on campus has signs up all over campus that she wants to "dump people on Valentines' Day" so if we give her name and addy she's baking cookies for people. So I'm getting in on some free cookies.
  11. Firstly let me say that Clinton having an affair or three didn't surprise me. I'm more surprised that Bush hasn't. I mean, Laura Bush's sex appeal is as non-existant as the WMD in Iraq. Bush lied about uranium in Africa that Iraq was trying to get its hands on. Bush lied about the unmanned drones that he said could spray chemical and biological agent (turns out they can't). Bush lied about nuclear capabilities of Iraq citing a UN report that doesn't exist. Bush and Powell lied saying that there were mobile labs (turns out they were used to study weather balloons). The entire UN speech was plagiarized (even the misspellings) from 1991 grad school work done by a student. The administration lied saying that Saddam had connections to 9/11 and Osama bin Laden. The administration lied when Rumsfeld said "We know where the WMD are." in Iraq yet we didn't find them. The US even removed their WMD search crew. There was another country that used pre-emptive war and it was found to be a crime against peace, the worst crime to be committed because it entailed both war crimes and crimes against humanity. That was the Nuremburg tribunal of 1946 that rejected the Nazi doctrine of pre-emption. Let's take Spokesman John Hughes' statement from the 1980s during the Iran/Iraq war (a White House spokesperson) saying: In other words, back when Saddam actually started gassing his people, his government was considered "legitimate" and Iran's attempt to achieve what the current Bush administration has called "regime change" was "inconsistent with the accepted norms of behavior." Don't you just hate it when history bites you in the ass? Also, wouldn't it stand to reason that IF Saddam had stockpiles of weapons, wouldn't a full scale invasion of his country that could very well topple his rule be a more than adequate reason to use such weapons? If he had them why didn't he use them? And I love how the Reich wingers (my pet term for ultra-righties like Hannity ad nauseum) bring up the fact that Saddam gassed his own people in the 80s. Yes, he did that with the weapons we gave him. I just have to ask the Republicans here...if Clinton pulled this "intelligence failure" and Gore had ties to a company that was raking in millions of dollars would you be "it was the fault of the CIA and the President isn't at fault."...just wondering. And speaking of the "We need more time to look for the weapons." Wasn't that what Blix and the UN said too? But yeah, we had to rush in there and kill approx. 10,000-37,000+ Iraqi civilians over 500+ American soldiers. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the sacrifice that the military is willing to give, I just value that sacrifice so much that it pisses me off to no end that Bush lied so damn much and sacrificed so much life for no real tangible reason. I mean, it went from "weapons of mass destruction" to "weapons of mass destruction programs" to "weapons of mass destruction related programs" to "weapons of mass destruction related program activities". Now, I'm of the frame of mind where the more adjectives there are the more the person has no idea what the f*** they are talking about. If I want cheese, I get real cheese not some processed fake crap. If I want frosting, I make it from scratch not some store bought processed garbage. And when I'm scared of WMD, I don't wet my pants over "weapons of mass destruction program related activities." What the f*** are those anyway? Even the testimony of Hussein Kamal, the testimony used by many neo-con hawks to justify the war states that Iraq destroyed their programs by 1995 and he should know since he was the head of the programs.
  12. 3 South and Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law
  13. We could still drop HW HW is still a war criminal.
  14. Keyes in '00. Oddly enough, Michael Moore endorsed him in the primaries. I'm sure you knew about the mosh pit stuff. I worked for the Dennis Kucinich campaign this year and really want to help out with Ron Paul's campaign next time he runs.
  15. It makes sense from a military standpoint. They can't defend these settlements. He's also said this kind of thing before: What an anti-Semite that guy is!
  16. I love the airplane one and the one with Alcatraz where they built the boat out of raincoats and rubber cement.
  17. http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/0204a/04jackson.html In 1995, CBS aired 2 breasts during prime time and nobody said anything. Interesting. And it's hysterical that there were millions spent on all those ads and nobody is talking about them after the halftime incident.
  18. Private money from individuals with a set limit. This stops bulls*** PACs being formed as shells to donate a f***load of money to campaigns as both sides do. And candidates can't raid their private funds except to donate to their campaign to the set limit. It makes it a lot easier for anybody to run instead of the billionaires we get stuck with. I know many people here don't like Michael Moore but one of my favorite pieces he did was bringing a pimp to Congress and the pimp confronts Republican and Democratic congressmen and the national committees calling them "b****es and hos" and telling them that they are just glorified prostitutes turning tricks for special interest Johns.
  19. 9/11 was different. NORAD and the FAA KNEW they were hijacked and ordered fighter jets. Bush, of course, ordered that they stand down as supreme commander of military forces.
  20. It's something to joke about because the timing is very convenient and we both know the government won't catch the person (or people) that are doing it. At least the ricin terrorist didn't use an umbrella to inject the ricin into the Congressmen.
  21. Yep. "Survivor" is a very different from Fight Club though. The main character is the last surviving member of a death cult. It's a really interesting read.
  22. Actually none of them that normally respond have met me. DK, Crimson and AsshatSoxFan have. And I think people take more creedence to the side of the debate I ascribe to because I don't rage and call everybody who disagrees totally anti-Israel. Critiquing an ideology does not make one anti-Israel. The Likuds are a bunch of right wing loons running the state of Israel into the ground.
  23. Just finished "A Bright Red Scream" and now I'm reading "The Language of Injury" - I'm helping out with body image stuff on campus so I've been doing research into eating disorders, cutting, burning, etc. After that I'm going to read "Survivor" again. Chuck Palahniuk kicks ass.
  24. I'm sure they'll catch the ricin guy just as fast as they caught the anthrax terrori--- oh wait.
