Marte has played less than 60 games ince his entire career and that was when he got a. cup of coffee in 2012, so I don’t know which player you were looking at. He also is 13% better than Goodwin offensively by OPS+ and gives you elite defense in RF and good stolen base numbers. Starling Marte is a heck of a player.

Yeah Escobar and Marte would be perfect fits for the Sox while not requiring that much prospect capital It‘s a no brainer to go after both of them. Then sign Conforto in the offseason ?

Going into October without getting help at 2B AND RF would be negligent. We have a special starting staff and a real chance of going all the way. Billy and Goodwin have been stepping up. Same for Burger and Sheets. But you don’t shy away from acquiring a real corner OF because of them.

Judging by past returns for rental hitters, Sheets for Escobar woukd be an overpay. Even superstar hitters like JDM got traded for pretty much a bag of balls.

Kipnis hasn’t gotten a single at bat for the Braves even though they had several injuries . He has been meh in AAA. If the Sox wanted him they would get him for nothing. Organizations do that all the time to do veterans a solid. Kipnis at this point is not an asset in any shape or form.

I would be fine with Adolfo for Escobar. Adolfo unfortunately, thanks to terrible luck with injuries, has no future with the Sox and Lopez is like 8th on the SP depth chart.

No offense, but trading any of the aforementioned players for Kipnis would be frankly insane. Guys like him get dealt for cash considerations or a guy who repeats the instructional league for the 4th time.

I also always like that deals are 100% done according to fake insiders, but the teams are holding off on announcing a trade because of reasons.
