  1. Hahn cannot wait to trade Quintana. If they wait until the deadline they may not find a suitor and then you're trying to move him in a free agent market overloaded with very good starters. A year from now they won't get half of what would be considered a low return now. Either they deal him this offseason or they keep him for the next 4 years.
  2. I know the Sox are philosophically opposed to picking up contracts but god, just cut them enough of a check to allow them to keep Cutch while acquiring Quintana. Then they can get Meadows (who I think the Pirates are willing to part with) and whatver else and we all go home very happy.
  3. I don't think the issue is Bell or Meadows I think it's the money. Pretty ridiculous that money is the issue with Jose friggin Quintana but here we are.
  4. Just to clarify Sox- Bell/Meadows, Rutherford + Pirates- Q + a major league piece from NYY Yankees- Glasnow
  5. They get Quintana without losing Bell or Meadows is almost impossible to lose.
  6. If New York and Pittsburgh refuse to throw Torres, Frazier, Bell or Meadows into a deal then Glasnow and Rutherford are really the next two best guys. Perhaps you turn around and go asking the Astros about Kyle Tucker in this scenario. And if it all pans out and the Sox get these guys to live up to their potential a Rodon-Giolito-Glasnow-Lopez-Kopech with Burdi closing would be nearly unstoppable and the White Sox would have an extremely good team provided they could score any runs at all.
  7. I think you just cross that bridge when you get there. Someone may get hurt, someone may be ineffective, guys may find really nice homes in the bullpen. If the Sox are in a position where they have 5 elite starters and another elite SP prospect on the farm trust me, nobody will be complaining. That said they need another couple position player prospects and unless they really plan on Robertson for Robles/Conforto (yeah, right) this Quintana trade is their last opportunity to really load up on premier hitting talents until the draft.
  8. Rutherford is a headline piece for Quintana, getting him as the 2nd player would be more than acceptable. If they can find a way to get Bell or somehow Meadows (perhaps Glasnow goes to NYY?) + Rutherford plus a Tumminia guy or two its a slam dunk and better than anything I would've anticipated. Glasnow and Rutherford + is fine, but I'd do whatever I could to get Bell/Meadows instead.
  9. It's been specifically said that Burdi will remain in the pen.
  10. NEVER SLEEP ON THE HOT STOVE This is the value of being a limo driver I guess. Lots of down time.
  11. The Pirates are just getting bent over here. Two of their three best prospects, their MVP CF (and he's only 30) and another top 100 guy and all they get back is Quintana and Todd Frazier with one year left. They might as well keep Cutch and make the trade sans the Nationals entirely. If there really is a 3 team deal in the works I see Glasnow being the piece that gets moved around to a team laden with position player prospects not some crazy megadeal.
  12. Having two switch hitters like Bell and Moncada plus LHH Collins on the farm would be a welcome departure from the RH dominant lineups we've gotten used to.
  13. Bell is a very good athlete I doubt his future is at DH. Sox will let him learn on the job at 1st. Impossible to make a judgment on Collins defensively for at least another year.
  14. I would do Meadows and Bell straight up 2-for-1 for Q. Probably throw in Frazier too, though demand a lesser (outside Pittsburgh's top 10) 3rd piece added in that case.
  15. Bell >= Tucker Glasnow >>> Martes Newman < Reed and Stubbs So Pirates I guess. 4 player returns are very enticing though.
  16. He still has $20m less in guaranteed money than he would've staying in Toronto.
