Congrats to your son and the line(s). Two more wins somehow and it will forever be known as the best team in Rice history even though Tom Mitchell won one. This team has clubbed everybody except Mt. Carmel which obviously is one of the top teams in the entire country, prolly a top 3 team nationally.

Do you have a gut feeling? Do we beat Downers or do the suburbanites pull a Nazareth (dominant team) and roll us?

The game is at home for BR, so that is nice.  I’ll be interested to see how Coach Q plays the defense against Lansu.  He has a cannon and can burn a secondary — see his two TD throws against Lincoln-Way West.

Do we have any common opponents?

I thought SCN would be the deepest opponent BR would play all playoffs.

BR will have a big advantage on the LOS.

My guy over at BR still believes without a couple of questionable calls in MC game by OC and refs, BR was as good as MC.

WS2023 wasn't Lansau all set to go to BR?

Definitely some questionable calls in that MC game, but I wouldn’t blame that.  MC is just so damn good.  Coach Q recruited Lansu when he was on the Downers Grove Panthers with my son, but he decided to go to his local HS instead.  So Q is very familiar with Lansu and hopefully will know how to stop him from connecting with some of his bombs.

My son just told me DGN had two key injuries — Tackle Anthony Bertacchi and DL Aiden Solecki.  I saw Bertacchi limp off the field in DGN’s last game.  Those are two big injuries for their lines.

Brother Rice is pretty loaded but Lansu is awesome. 7A playoffs have been great. We're playing Oswego in the semis on Saturday.

Great rebound for the Porters I think they started slow.  Did not see them throttling Barrington like that.  As solid a 8A program as there is.  Hoping to cheer them on Thanksgiving weekend.

Lansau playing injured and they seem to have lost a few guys that hampered them.

Lansu was apparently cleared to play after coming back in 4 weeks after surgery in his non-throwing arm.  He had his best game of his season in his first game back from the injury.

“I broke my radius bone about halfway down my left arm. They had to put a plate over it to align the bone which was displaced," Lansu said to 247Sports.”

We were missing multiple defensive starters including our best player in weeks 1-4. 8-0 since. Totally different team.

I wanted to share these old pictures from when my son (#96) was in grade school and played with many of the current Downers Grove North HS players for the Downers Grove Panthers (Bill George Youth Football League).

Quite a few current DGN players were on the team.  #2 is Owen Lansu and #24 is their RB Caden Chiarelli.  The head coach with gray hair and glasses is Lansu’s dad.

Oh, the irony of the last picture.  How crazy is it that life brings you back full circle?

No idea what got into St. Rita.  They were mediocre in the regular season and have gone crazy in the playoffs.  They are whooping Batavia 34-10 in the 3rd quarter.

Yea good luck against them, we lost by 20 , 54-34 lol

Thanks!  BR won on defense, OL, and running game.  CJ Gray couldn’t throw the ball at all.  3 INT’s.  But Lansu couldn’t do anything against the BR defense.  Kameron McGee is ridiculous.  He put so much pressure on Lansu and made him s%*# himself.  CJ Gray gave the credit to the OL for their play in the postgame interview.

St. Rita went 5-4 in the regular season.  Brother Rice beat them 24-10 early in the season.  But now, they have gotten hotter than s%*#.  Very nice for both teams that Mount Carmel moved to 8A this year.  🤣
