Yeah, I thought it might be a big enough signing with other moving pieces that posters would want to discuss it. If not, it will fall by the wayside quickly.

Dude. I don't know what vendetta you have against Jose, but he's worth WAY more than $11 million a year.

It really is. Aside from the 3.5 year age difference, they're numbers are pretty darn close. Due to Abreu's younger age I feel he's worth more than 11M but not much more. If Abreu gets back to his '14 numbers, that's a different story.

If he gets back to his '14 form, absolutely.

Toronto will be very interesting to watch. Wouldn't be surprised if this means they sign Bautista.

Kansas City will also be interesting to watch after this. They have a team that has a ton of post-2017 free agents - Cain, Moustakas, Davis, Escobar, Hosmer, Dyson, Duffy, Vargas from a quick look.

 

Basically their window closes in 1 year. If they don't find a quality replacement for Morales, they might as well start trading those guys now. They're going to have to make a move to add offense and someone under contract for 1 year would make sense.

Cuthbert...but that might be too much for just one year of Frazier in their eyes.

Names like Zimmer, Starling, Colon and Hunter Dozier come to mind.

 

They're going to be one of many teams looking at Fowler, Desmond, Carlos Gomez, Beltran, Rasmus, Napoli, etc.

 

And they won't have a 3b after Moustakas departs...so they might go with a rotating DH to rest Cain/Moustakas/Perez/Hosmer/Escobar. But they definitely need another bat. Could be RF/CF as well.
