January 27, 20179 yr Colleen Kane @ChiTribKane now The White Sox have signed outfielder Peter Bourjos to a minor-league deal, sources say. 7-year ML veteran gets invite to spring training.
January 27, 20179 yr QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 04:50 PM) wow everyone at Soxfest must be going totally crazy Very funny!
January 27, 20179 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) Potential platoon with Tilson? Why would they platoon Tilson now? Maybe he's better than just a platoon guy. Bourjos is probably just another warm body for Spring Training.
January 27, 20179 yr QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 04:57 PM) Why would they platoon Tilson now? Maybe he's better than just a platoon guy. Bourjos is probably just another warm body for Spring Training. Tilson would get close to 75% of playing time so he'd basically be a regular. Of course, Bourjos would have to earn a spot.
January 28, 20179 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) Potential platoon with Tilson? Anytime I hear the word platoon, it makes me want to throw up. Platoon = 2 players not good enough to start sharing time. The Sox outfield situation is in pretty terrible shape. That's where the most improvement needs to be made here forward as far as drafting and / or trading for prospects (in my humble opinion).

January 28, 20179 yr QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 10:32 PM) Good. Platoon the entire 2017 roster. #CheerForBeer True dat.
January 28, 20179 yr If Tilson's hamstring injury has ruined his ability to play CF I suppose Bourjos could be considered an adequate defensive replacement. He's lost all ability to contribute offensively though.
January 28, 20179 yr QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 10:49 PM) If Tilson's hamstring injury has ruined his ability to play CF I suppose Bourjos could be considered an adequate defensive replacement. He's lost all ability to contribute offensively though. Honestly, if anyone is going to take over for Tilson, I would hope it's Adam Engel, but yeah, then you need someone to replace Engel. It's nothing but a "meh" move IMO. Probably doesn't change anything.
January 28, 20179 yr All in on having Bourjos and Tilson start together. All of the speed and all of the losses. Sound fun to me.
January 28, 20179 yr Nothing wrong with giving Bourjos a shot at backing up Tilson for CF. Wouldn't suck having an actual center fielder for a back up. Bourjos buys the Sox time to see what kind of a start Engel and May get off to down in Charlotte.
January 28, 20179 yr You guys are all missing the point here(you're not), we can have Tilson and Bourjos starting together!!

I think Cubs are looking at a platoon of Baez and Schwarber (with Zobrist switching between LF anf 2B). Do they suck?
January 28, 20179 yr QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 27, 2017 -> 11:38 PM) You guys are all missing the point here(you're not), we can have Tilson and Bourjos starting together!! Technically yes they still could with Avi at DH haha
January 28, 20179 yr QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 28, 2017 -> 07:22 AM) Technically yes they still could with Avi at DH haha Many here have said this will be Avi's breakout season.
January 28, 20179 yr Don't really see the point here; it's not like he's a player who can be dressed up and flipped. Just old habits die hard, I suspect.

Lol come on man. Possible 4th OF but more likely cut by the end of spring training. Literally every team signs guys like this.

You see no point in signing one of the better defensive outfielders we've seen in the last 10 years to a minor league contract?
