Blue Jays have "discussed" Robertson

Agree and that's why I think if the Nat's were willing to offer those three players for Robertson it would already be a done deal. IMHO, the Nat's might offer two of those three but not all three.

Juan Soto would be a great target from the Nats, but we might look for players closer to the mlb

Just saw this article got posted, I wonder if it's old news or if it means talks have advanced?

I think it is new. Wasn't the report this weekend that the Blue Jays discussed Robertson (which I assume means internally)?

Chicago is looking to fetch a hefty ransom of prospects in exchange for the 31-year old. While the White Sox aren’t opposed to trade Robertson now, they’re not quite trigger happy over striking a deal. Robertson’s value will only grow by the time the July non-waiver trade deadline rolls around, giving Chicago the biggest change to double their return.

It definitely seems like they don't want to trade him at a reduced price so those hoping otherwise can stop dreaming.

It is dated today.

Yes the article came out today but it could have just been reported late I guess you could say since there was talk about it this weekend, though I think it was internal only.

I'm not all that knowledgable regarding the Blue Jays system. Who should we be hoping the Sox get if this deal does happen?

Sounds like if a deal happens, it'll be a good haul for us based on the Sox not wanting to deal him after a down year. I'm not too familiar with their system either.

Here's their top ten:

1. RHP Sean Reid-Foley

2. OF Anthony Alford

3. 3B Vladimir Guerrero, Jr.

4. RHP Conner Greene

5. RHP Jonathan Harris

6. SS Richard Urena

7. RHP T.J. Zeuch

8. 1B Rowdy Tellez

9. C Max Pentecost

10. SS Bo Bichette

So far we have now heard the Nationals, Yankees and Blue Jays have shown interest in Robertson

Sox do not really need salary relief and are much more interested in acquiring impactful talent in exchange for him

Eat the whole thing if you have to

If the Sox eat the entire contract I would expect a pretty massive prospect return

No way we pay $24 million for him to pitch for the Blue Jays without getting a haul

More than likely, I could see the Sox being willing to pick up some of the contract in exchange for a nice prospect return

Yeah realistically, would you say $10 mill? 5 this year, 5 next.

I could see the Sox eating 6-10 million of the contract, but that also will increase the return

It will all come down to what prospects are coming to the Sox, who need the young talent far more than they need salary relief

Well that kinda goes without saying at this point. Considering how much we've all talked in circles here the past few months.

Reese McGuire is a name from Toronto, originally Pittsburgh, that I have always had a soft spot for. Absolutely no power and no real hope of developing any, but the rest of the tools are there. He'll start the year at AAA at only 22 years old as a catcher.

After Vlad Jr., Reid Foley, Alford, Urena, Tellez their farm system drops off considerably

At minimum one of those four players would have to be in a deal

The three best prospects are Vlad Jr., Reid Foley and Urena, which all grade as B+ prospects

Honestly, I'm not sure I see a deal getting done right now unless they wow us

Robertson could be one of the better relief options at the deadline, and multiple suitors could drive up the price

I do feel like the Blue Jays will not end up paying the cost and am willing to bet Robertson is here until mid-season (assuming no injury).

Can't say I'm familiar at all with the Blue Jays system, but it seems like they have a few guys that seem to fit with Robertson's trade value at present. Doubtful they could land Guerrero though.

No reason to deal Robertson now unless the pricetag gets met

McGuire and Tellez would be a pretty nice return for Robertson. The Sox likely need to send money along with Robertson but worth it, imo.

I think the Nat's might be a better fit for Robertson due to Toronto already having a closer but if the Jays are serious about Robertson then it could force the Nat's to up the ante. Assuming of course the Nat's are still interested in Robertson.

Yep. He is better than his 2016 stats due to those two games Robin unnecessarily put him out there and left him swinging in the wind.

I would take Tellez, Bichette, McGuire for Robertson and $15M.

Tellez, bichette and McGuire would be a solid return for Robertson for sure

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal

now

Sources: Howell deal with #BlueJays in $3M range. Team still looking for RHR at similar price. No recent talks with #WhiteSox on Robertson.
