I guess he'll get through five innings, but an ERA over 7 after 5 starts doesn't help his cause staying much longer.

Not even gonna get into it. Feeky is right on the money though.

Wow, you do realize that Feekey is Matt Cooper's biggest fan and would consider him a legit prospect right? I have no idea what you're trying to prove here...

He already said he was 26, not a top prospect but would rather give him a chance. I'm in 100% agreement with him. I know how big of a fan he is. Been posting (and was a writer) on FS for years so certain posters I know who likes who. I probably should've added "legit" as well which probably threw you off.

Just to clarify, I meant that Matt Cooper is not a top prospect in the sense that he is not ranked at the top of prospect lists and not at an age-appropriate level, and should therefore be exempt from service time concerns, not that I don't think he's a legit prospect. I think he'll be a quality major-league starter.

Zastryzny...Harry Caray would love that name out of the Cubs' pen.

And Reynaldo Lopez with an interesting stat line tonight, essentially a quality start.

Maybe he gets on a run...any of those guys, Cooper, Guerrero, Danish.

More than likely, they end up bullpen guys, but it's not going to destroy their careers to give them 2-3 start auditions just to see what happens.

You're still looking at a line of Lopez, Fulmer, Giolito, Kopech, Adams, Dunning and Hansen stacked ahead of them.

Pretty much agree with everything except that. But people differ on prospects with age just like the ceiling/floor argument.

Omar seems to really struggle blocking pitches

4 innings for Covey...time for a new option.

Lol...talk about moving the goalposts. I called him a legit prospect, which Feeky would agree with. I never once called him a top prospect, which is what you are implying. Again, a guy striking out 13 per 9 innings in AA is a legit prospect. And I've already said on the FS forum that I hope Cooper gets an opportunity this year. He's simply not ready for that opportunity just yet and either are Lopez, Fulmer, or even Danish. I wish we had something better than Covey to throw out there every five days, but I'm not rushing any prospect with legit major league upside because I tired of watching the incumbent suck balls during a rebuilding season.

Just sign Doug Fister to the minimum contract (with fair incentives based on number of starts) and flip him to a contender if he can still pitch.

That would be the easiest thing to do.

Feeky already clarified and I said my post after if you missed it. Miscommunication.

Whoever is doing the intro/outro beds on CSN Chicago this year is killin' it. Some really great tracks, mostly 90's pop stuff.

Went a bit to long with him

Asche?!?!

Haha for course

That one will buy Kodiashii another 4 weeks.

He should have two homers, according to Harrelson.

Asche homered. Let's sign that guy to a long term deal

he went from asche, to classy?

Hawk seems to love him

Nice catch by Avi.

I suspect that when (or if) Rodon returns...or when (or if) Shields returns, Covey will be released / demoted something that gets him off the big league roster.

The guy simply isn't any good.

Now that I think about it Bob Dylan is probably a better pitcher then Dylan Covey.
