Gillaspie falls right in line with the recent Sox M.O.of power and OBP.

Jennings did yeoman work this year. He was over-used but largely effective.

Don't get the exuberance for Gilaspie. .667 OPS, another corner player, like most acquisitions and most of the draft.Very little up the middle. Light on pitching.

Former top 100 prospect, still 24, former first round draft pick, a guy that could potentially be on the roster early next season (maybe Opening Day if he hits in Spring Training?). Gives us another young position player to watch over the next 2 seasons.

Pretty good trade. Jennings wouldn't have much use for us. 1st round pick, had a good year in AAA in 2016 but having a down year this year. Still hasn't seen the majors. Turned 24 in January.

It probably is what Jennings is worth, but no excitement whatsoever from me over him. Offensive struggles is something the White Sox haven't been able to fix in years. I don't know why it would start now. Given his defensive position, he is going to have to hit a lot to be a viable player. I don't see getting traded to the White Sox organization his big break.

 

Well Davidson was able to get righted even though he hasn't been amazing or anything. He went from looking like a AAA bust for years to a major league player.

I was just looking at his numbers (specifically K% and BB%) and this season's numbers really aren't too far from his career numbers. They're fairly consistent from year to year. Maybe he has hit into some bad luck?

Last I checked we have Yoan Moncada up the middle, Robert/Cordell/Engel in CF

 

We have greatly added depth all over the diamond in the past 12 months

Power is also down, 200 iso last year, very bad 130 ISO this year.

We very well could be looking SS high in the 2018 draft, or power college arm like Singer?

 

We did pick up Yrizarri, who is a fringe prospect, but still a prospect nonetheless. Expect us to work very hard scouting the 2018 draft which is deep in talent.

He just wants to find something new to gripe about since 'hero worship' no longer applies.

Of course not. I didn't want to stop targeting pitching when people were going bonkers that we had no offensive talent in the system. Just keep acquiring the best talent possible.
