It has to be Schwarber. Wasn’t Soriano an advanced defensive metrics star for a couple of years?

Yes, not sure of Soriano. He did have an incredibly quick release on his throws.

So on the first pitch Beck ever saw as a major league hitter, Ricky had a suicide squeeze on. What could possibly go wrong?

    Should improve his walk rate.

  • Lopez game by game velocity this year. Clear "tick tock" pattern and we're unfortunately on a "tock" day

Soriano had two god-level years with UZR in his first two season with the Cubs. DRS liked him that much in one of those years as well, though DRS rightly (I think) had it all riding on his tremendous arm whereas UZR was giving Soriano massive range which I don't believe he was truly covering (at least functionally)

You love your advanced stats this year, don't you :)

Nice to see Timmy get a hit

I'm a stats guy, it's just who I am

Nights like tonight are why I don't mind the Sox running Engel and Thompson out there until they hit.  This young pitching is going to have enough problems on their own, let alone with the defense giving away entire innings worth of outs in games.

Good lord did Moncada smash that ball

And the guy in the stands almost killed himself falling over the seat to get the bouneback.

Of course he crushes one just foul and strikes out. Just one of those nights

Hey boys... at game, this sucks but the Moncada foul ball was so wonderful.

"Todd Ritchie had some good moments for the Sox"

Yeah I guess he did get guys out a couple times

He had five good moments and 15 bad ones in 2002 lol

Nice job by Beck getting some quality outs.

Non sox, but it's truly insane how much the  Cubs benefit from instant replay.

Guess it's a good thing I forgot the game was on.

Bummer owes the pitchers a lot of beers. Seems he allows inherited runners to score at will.

There’s an inhaaronited runner bummer for Chris Beck.  Sounds much funnier than it looks unfortunately.

Even Kamka tweeted that they caught a break

Blatantly safe, but not overturned. Then they called Culberson out at 3rd when he was clearly safe but they had no challenge left. You won't see two worse consecutive calls.

Just throw Cano over there in the bin with Sosa, McGuire, Bonds, Clemens, Palmeiro, et al

At least Cubs' fans can quit freaking out about Yu Darvish for 5 days...

So how's the 2019 draft class looking?

Lopez' mediocre peripherals catching up with him.
I would have  liked to see Beck pitch more..he was rolling and has pitched well in spots this year..see what he can do over many innings.

3 Top pitching prospects up.  Progress, Don Cooper?  Is everybody protected in this org?

Not true.
