Sheesh.

80 days

Does it start now or after his hand heals?

Oh shit. Not you Robbie. God damnit.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with guys like Bonds,Clemens,Colon,Manny and Ortiz in terms of being voted into the Hall. Will Robbie get the same leeway these guys will probably end up getting?

Welp, this makes his HOF case more interesting.

Somewhere, Gordon Beckham is dusting off his walk-up music.

You think all of those guys will get in?

Bonds and Clemens are steadily climbing there. If they get in then the steroids argument might take a pretty big back seat allowing the others to get in.

It’s kinda terrible the first thought is whether he gets an honor at a museum. But Cano and Braun are in a different category than Bonds and Clemens considering the testing policy and when it started. Post-2003, if you’ve done the time, you’re out.

Not PEDs. A diuretic.

It starts now even on the DL, but the next 80 games are unpaid.

Strike 1: One year suspended, and option to void contract

Strike 2: Banned from baseball, no different than gambling

That would probably get players more careful about what they’re taking.

but possibly used to mask steriods?

Yes. That is why they take the diuretic. It's a banned substance. It doesn't matter if it was given to you by a licensed physician. Even if this is all true, you need to read the banned substances in the contract.

How did Cano pass a physical?

Furosemide is a loop diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt. This allows the salt to instead be passed in your urine. Furosemide is used to treat fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or a kidney disorder such as nephrotic syndrome.

Because he doesn't have those issues. He was using it to mask the PEDs. This is why it is a banned substance.

I guess he could be using it to make is body more lean but this is a odd way to do it for baseball.

What legitimate uses for this are there, and are any of them things Cano could have needed to take?

Well nevermind

Just educated guessing. He passed a physical which means he doesn't have severe forms of those conditions which would require medication. If so, the team would have prescribed the meds, not a "licensed physician in the DR."
