One of these days I will learn to quit reading Soxtalk when I want to find out what the score of the game is, lol.

Obviously I don’t want to get too excited here, but today is a great example of how development isn’t linear.  These aren’t just good games, Yoan & Giolito actually look significantly better.  I’m

Moncada is leading off the 6th with another home run. Eloy is going yard twice for Charlotte today. Bet the house.

On board for this one , Lucas v Burch Smith , good line up of batters , Sox win :cafe:

Lets hope Giolito keeps his delivery closed and stays over the top more in the 1st inning for a damn change instead of flying all over the place and walking the world. I've been one of the biggest supporters of him, but he can be super frustrating when his delivery gets out of whack, not to mention that he gets lit up like a cheap Chinese Christmas tree. When his arm angle is more over the top he throws harder, which is good. when he drops the arm angle a bit he loses velo. Watch his release point.

Despite the fact Giolito a) doesn't miss bats and b) walks a ton of batters the following gives me hope with him: 97.0 IP 94 H. He doesn't give up a lot of hits. it means his stuff is still good, but he doesn't have good command yet. Another thing that gives me hope is when Giolito has his good starts, he gets a ton of ground balls and weak contact. As he gets more comfortable, those weak contact groundouts will become Ks.

What happend to hawk?

I’m really hoping Giolito can have a strong start like Lopez did yesterday (ignoring the two HR’s).  Just give us reason for optimism going into the second half of the season.

Stop blaming the mound after every single ball

Under the weather

These foul balls are annoying. 20 pitches and only one out. He hasn't been missing by much and they're making him work.

Thanks

Giolito first innings are so aggravating

No zip on anything. Breaking pitches either hanging or spiked.  He just can't get consistent swings and misses.  Nice play by Palka!

The difference is mental fortitude between Lopez & Giolito is startling.

What was that 3rd base coach thinking...

Nice pitch there. At least he has good fastball command so far.

On the bright side, Giolito was ahead of everyone.

Such a shorter swing that he had a month ago on inside pitches

My god, can he wear football padding?

I was going to say, the positives from that first inning was getting ahead with good fastball command.  He’s got to find a way to command his breaking pitches and be able wipe guys out though.  He can’t survive without them.

Yeah a handful of those fastballs were meatballs to Moose and Duda.
