Adam Engel approves this post.

This outfield is just rotating crap.  You take one turd out and replace it with a fresh one every other month.

By design.  Brighter days ahead.  Patience.

LOL the pessimism here is absurd. He was almost the exact same hitter as last year for the first 35ish games. Only difference was the lack of power and that’s an anomaly (he had a 2.5% HR/FB rate before getting hurt!).  Still a potentially intriguing piece, everyone needs to stop the handwringing.

Is he as good as he showed last year? Maybe not. But his approach numbers were identical and he’s actually hitting more fly balls now. You’re gonna be pleasantly surprised when positive regression hits.

I’m hopeful Nicky can flash a bit more power down the stretch.  Even if he can’t be regular, his left-handed bat could be very useful off the bench or as part of a DH platoon.

He has a shot at being a MLBer, in large part because he has shown he can catch the ball well enough out there. Note that I'm not saying he's some kind of plus defender, but he won't have to hit a bunch to make up for his defense like a Palka will.

None of these corner guys is that intriguing at all because none of them can play a lick of defense.  (If they could, they wouldn't have essentially been available for a 40 man spot.) With their defensive woes you're looking at something like a slash line of 280/350/480 for them to be average starters.  That's not that likely.

That said, he's better than Tilson and Palka.

Nicky can at least take a walk. Much rather see a former guy who was once highly thought of as a prospect than the others.

Of Tilson, Engel and Palka -- Nicky is by far the most likely to turn into a useful asset.  He should be given every start in LF the rest of the way, health permitting.

He better start hitting like last year though.

Can he use an aluminum bat this time?

100% agree.

Is it possible his injury during spring training sapped some of his power?

Certainly possible, which makes me much rather see him than Engel or Tilson
