  • Just watched the Moncada 3rd strike. If he’s not swinging there with 2 strikes, that’s on him.

I'm beginning to wonder if he is having some vision issues. He looks totally and completely lost, doesn't seem to have any idea of what he wants to do or any type of plan. This is actually gettin

That was great work to get out of that. That was Ace-like work.

I'm super impressed with Lopez tonight.

It looks like he's taken something off his slider and there's a bigger contrast to his fb. He's also doing a good job keeping it down.

99 and then the 83-84 mph slider....great job recovering from that situation, very impressive!  Would have gone offspeed after 3 FB's, but maybe that was too obvious.

Good play is contagious with young teams. Some big plays from engel, great pitching, the whole team seems energized. Nice to see, and see them having fun.

Super impressive escape!

Jack may disagree, but I think it’s clear that Lopez has a much more realistic chance of becoming a TOR starter than Giolito if he can command the fastball & get that change working consistently.

He’s flashing legit TOR stuff.

Hitting 99 late in a game is Verlander or peak-Colon like.

As of today there is zero question as to who has better stuff.

If things work as planned, Giolito could end up being a 5th starter. If that's the case, you've got one hell of a staff.

Rodon

Lopez

Kopech

Cease

Giolito

Might want to split up Cease and Giolito as they're pretty similar though.

Which is why cheering for losses doesn’t make sense at this point in the season.  Getting some wins hopefully brings the best out of these guys and stops some of the pressing.

Badass. All 5 of those guys have ace potential. Hansen does as well if he gets his delivery back in sync and Dunning has a chance to be a #2.

I think Moncada needs glasses.  Maybe Flowers van loan him a pair.

What a horrible offensive showing so far this series. Seeing Yoan and Timmy completely fall apart at same time is tough to watch.

I think he needs a wake up call

This is getting to be pretty embarrassing...they definitely need to sit him for a game?

Who's pitching tomorrow?  Severino?  That could be a disaster or get him started, who knows...?

It makes zero sense to use an option this year, so I don't know what they could do other than give him a week off in September, or move Yolmer to 2B and start Davidson at 3rd for a week. Moncada needs a wake up call and a mental break it seems.

I don’t see ace potential with Lucas if I’m being candid.  Maybe good #3 starter potential.  The fastball just isn’t good enough at this point IMO.

Throw Sanchez into that mix,

Not to mention Yolmer and Davidson.

The only cheers are for some of our pitchers, Abreu/Avi/Palka/Narvaez (not defensively) and Engel's getting some short-lived career highlights before he ends up in the minors again, someday.

Agreed, don’t waste the option.

And I don’t think such a drastic move is necessary.  If the issue is Yoan not listening to Stevenson, then bench him for a game or two.  If the issue is a failure of our coaching staff to instruct appropriately, well then we’re in a lot of trouble given our track record of firing coaches.

12 strikeouts for CC in 5 2\3 innings.  Have any of the Sox hitters heard of protecting the plate with 2 strikes!
