Hopefully his recent poor performance was related to the bad tooth and he can now finally start swinging at borderline pitches.

That was a fuck up I thought only the Sox were capable of pulling off.

  • All those damn Twinkies finally caught up to him

And over his last 15 games Engel is sporting a .964 OPS.

We need a PTC thread, too :p.

Let's go Eloy-less White Sox for a loss but a good game from Gio, Moncada, Abreu, Avi!

WOW

That's not something you see every day...

That was some little league bullshit.

I can't believe Palka thought he could make second on that...but what a horrible relay by the tigers.

Geez Gio. Quit hanging pitches when you're ahead in the count.

Not gonna lie, that was a pretty damn good at bat by Gio there to Nick

He would never do such a thing :)

Now that's a major league circle change

God he sucks.  6.41 ERA after mid-August. Cooper is doing a wonderful job with the young guys.

Typical Giolito inning.  30+ pitches.  Two nice strikeouts.  Flashes some really good stuff (recently) but no consistency from batter to batter.  Can’t get that final out in the inning.  Hit batters, wild pitches, complete inability to hold runners successfully.

That was just a good piece of hitting by Martinez, and the game is tied on the next pitch with a hanging slider. Sigh. I understand why you guys think he's a mental midget. On the plus side, Gio did strike out the side.

I do like the emotion Gio showed there. But when his command leaves him, he is meat.

Good point, he just do so many things poorly on the mound that it's really hard to see him turning it around.  Inconsistent mechanics, bad pitching from the stretch, inability to hold runners and general lack of spin rate.  He's still living off his prospect ranking from a few years ago.

The Sox have 51 starts by pitchers with ERAs over 6,00,and 11 by pitchers with ERAs below 4.40.

That is the thing that concerns me. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason when he is about to fall apart. It just happens. It isn’t because he is tired or anything like that. He just comes apart. He also gets back together again on occasion, but it just seems like at some point every game, with very few exceptions, he is going to look like an A ball pitcher.
