November 21, 20187 yr Baseball America just released their preview. They list the top 5 guys likely to be taken. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2018-rule-5-draft-preview-v-10/ RP Zach Thompson seems like the most likely White Sox player to be selected. Spencer Adams and Danny Mendick are also high risks, according to FutureSox. I'm really intrigued by Mendick, so I hope he falls through.
November 21, 20187 yr Author As for players whom I hope the Sox take..... P Tyler Jay, P Riley Ferrell, and 2B Max Schrock all interest me.
November 21, 20187 yr Author Hey, a familiar name in Tyler Kolek is also available in the draft, along with 8 other former 1st RD picks. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/nine-first-round-picks-left-unprotected-in-first-year-of-rule-5-eligibility/
November 21, 20187 yr Some guys I found interesting from looking through the top 30 lists: Luis Gonzalez - Orioles Josh Ockimey - Red Sox Trevor Clifton - Cubs Michael Beltre - Reds Roberto Ramos - Rockies Riley Ferrell - Astros Drew Jackson - Dodgers Connor Joe - Dodgers Ali Sanchez - Mets Richie Martin - A's Tom Eshelman - Phillies Art Warren - Mariners Max Schrock - Cardinals Drew Ward - Nationals Edited November 21, 20187 yr by GenericUserName Added player

November 21, 20187 yr I think Thompson is going to be selected. He fits the profile of a guy who could be stashed in a pen all year. I wouldn’t worry about Mendick. Last year we were worried about Peters, and he had better stats than Mendick and wasn’t selected.
December 10, 20187 yr Now we need a catcher, any thoughts of using a rule 5 pick? Ali Sanchez for example is a great defender derailed by injuries and a poor bat. Thinking we select him and use him to Collins/Zavala are fully ready. Would struggle to hit the Mendoza line but should easily hold own with glove. It’s prob not a lot worse than say Huntley as an idea.
December 10, 20187 yr I hope they don't lose anyone, esp. considering the AAAA fodder they protected on the 40. They could pick a reliever, but they have a ton of equivalent guys on the 40. Same with 4th/5th OFs. I doubt they pick anyone. Edited December 10, 20187 yr by GreenSox
December 10, 20187 yr I kind of have interest in Ockimey but he is sort of blocked at 1B on our team.
December 10, 20187 yr After a few years of draft and stash, I'm on board this train: Get someone you think is a big league piece.
December 10, 20187 yr Usually I BA's rule V preview and come up with a few names I like. Not so much this year. I would pick Kean Wong though. Kolten's brother. .345 OBP at AAA, not too shabby. He'd have to compete with Rondon and Leury for a backup job. Probably lose too, but again, its 50k. It would be really nice to test out a starting pitcher this year, but BA doesnt list any on their top eligible players there.
