Oh, and it was an automatic out in a big spot.  Pitchers batting will always be stupid.

He gave up three singles on groundballs, two of which should have been fielded.

91 was literally right down the plate

All 91 mph fastballs are not created equal. A 91 mph fastball with elite spin can still be incredibly effective.

C'mon Fathom you know better than that. It isn't likely for a pitcher to even reach the majors throwing in the low 90s without elite spin.

Check his fangraphs pitch values, he can‘t hit fastballs anymore. He is done, but I am afraid the Sox think differently.

He has “outfielder pitching against him” speed bat now :)

No, I agree with you. I don't want Abreu back in 2020 at this point.

The only reason to bring him back is on a 1 year deal as a bench bat.

The problem isthat there aren’t any real alternatives on the market unless you convince Castellanos with some extra money to buy himself a 1B mitt.

His spin rate is below average

btw I wish McCann would get a day off once. He is being played into the ground.

Have philly fans turned on Harper yet

Goins has done a great job

That is an important piece of information. Now you can continue discussing how Abreu is over the hill now. Velocity without spin rate data is useless at this point.

Watching McCann hit now is such a stark difference to two months ago. His swing is all arms, he is gassed.

At one point in his career, Jon Jay was considered to be fast, right?   I know he is over 30 and stuff but damn he looks so damn slow now

My son literally just asked why does he hit so many foul balls now

I do think he’s nowhere near 100 pct with his injury.  But yes, he runs in quicksand

Goins read that ball well, I would have sent him with Lopez up. Gonna need a hit to score anyway

Bases loaded for the pitcher.  Will never ever understand why this is appealing to NL fans...

If Lopez swingngs the bat here...
