Mous to the Reds, 4yr Deal

If we signed him four years at 16 mill a year this board would have exploded in anger. It's monopoly money folks, who cares? I hope Jerry spends til it hurts though I do realize after a year or two, many teams are trying to get rid of the free agents they paid for. Didn't the Cubs almost immediately want to get rid of Heyward after inking him?

wut

Greg, it isn't "monopoly money" because we know JR has a budget and thus every dollar overpaid to person X will eventually have to be paid for by underpaying person Y which may well result in not securing the services of person Y.

Unfortunately we are very much a rob Peter to pay Paul organization. I just hope we didn't rob Wheeler to pay Abreu.

I don't know what they are going to do, but they were a WC team last year and are losing a dozen + players if not more and cry about payroll and have no farm.

I believe they are around 60 million now after this batch of non-tenders and played at 130 ML last year.  They are going to have to hit on a bunch of guys that were non-tendered or buy low on several players.  They need C, 1B, all of the pitching, 3B, and several depth pieces.  And that division sucks, idk what else you want me to say about it.  It's not good.

They have a sharp gm, a sharp manager, and an owner that has spent money, they have what I wish the White Sox had, and there is no way that division sucks, cubs, cardinals, Milwaukee and a up coming reds.

My take is the Reds wanted Moose and paid to get him. Sox fans on here were talking about Moose being worth about 9 mill a year. Ditto Abreu. Sox wanted him and paid him. Jerry's budget is not my concern after all the money he's made on the team. He can sell at any time for some astronomical amount. So pay pay pay so we can win a pennant or two.

You know if we don't get Wheeler that's how some here will categorize it. If the Sox don't get Wheeler it's because someone like the Rangers over payed by more than the Sox wanted to over pay .
