The raw numbers don't show it (since it was such a small sample size) but he looked pretty good in MLB last year prior to the TJS. I still think he has a future with us

Covey was outright back in 2018, so he can reject the assignment. Ah, you’re right. They initially DFA’ed him and then outrighted him to Charlotte but he can still elect to become a free agent instead.
