Marcus Semien

What does everyone think?

What does he get in FA?

Years?  AAV?  Total dollars?

Is it worth maybe trying an under-the-radar move and dealing Madrigal for a RF or SP, then signing Semien?

I think Semien would be willing to play 2B.

I mean, is 2B really filled?  Really?

Hed be useful as an extra infielder but down year notwithstanding he is gonna get starting offers. So zero interest

NO NO AND NO. NO WAY I'M TRADING MADRIGAL AND HIS 6 years of service for Semien

I'd take him if he willing to backup and insurance against Madrigal but he will get a better offer elsewhere.

Besides we still need to figure out our pitching and LF/DH.

Had the white Sox not traded him, a Semien, Tatis, Anderson infield could have dominated 2019 and 2020. Too late for that, and now he’s a terrible fit for us.

I have no idea whatsoever what he’s worth this offseason. Between a bad 8 week 2020 season and the revenue drop, he seems in a spot to be massively hurt this year. If owners are being honest about their losses he will get a 1 year deal, but if he is still a 5 win shortstop and you sign him for a couple years he’s a potential huge bargain. But it may be no one has the money for that gamble.

There are also a ton of high-end SS’s hitting free agency next in Lindor, Baez, Correa, Story, & Seager.  Only the value shoppers will be looking for a SS this year.  I expect him to return to OAK or sign with the Reds.

I say we bring the whole gang back

If he was coming off another strong year, and it was a normal market, even with a surplus of SS I'd imagine someone would go 3/$60 or more. This year? I'd rather go make a bet on the election results being overturned than on any number I could come up with.

I think its an almost certainty that he returns to Oakland but im interested in how his market plays out. Id give Marcus 2/30 or 3/48.

The Reds certainly should.

Poor guy. I wish him the best.

when Sox trade madrigal he’ll be a great option.

I’ll never understand the fascination of people wanting to get rid of good young players with long term control...
