You're not supposed to get upside like this with the 26th pick.

  • I don’t think selecting Schultz is going to end Longenhagens jokes about how Shirley only selects players within a drive from his house

What a great swing.  He got his foot down so he was able to wait a tick longer on that hanger then he didn't miss it.  He has advanced feel to hit.

He reclassified because they knew HS guys wouldn't pitch to him now JC guys might stop pitching to him too.

@Harold's Leg Lift Any thoughts on Chase DeLauter?

I really like him. Physically he checks all the boxes. Big, strong, athletic, tools, power.  The only box he doesn't check is a track record against quality pitching. Playing at a small school will make it a little more difficult to evaluate him though he did hit on the Cape and some teams weigh that more than the spring. I was told he has a chance to be the best player in the draft and I find it hard to disagree.

How about that matchup between Jackson Ferris and Brandon Barriera last night.  Two of the top HS lefties in the class and they did not disappoint.  Ferris was 93-96 sl 76-78 and Barriera was 92-96 w/a nasty sl at 79-81.  HS pitching is risky but damn there are some serious dudes in this years class.

Prep pitching is risky for sure and I agree completely. My issue right now is I'm not sure if there are any long-term starters in the college class. They all "look" like relievers and everyone is hurt.

No doubt the college pitching class is weak but there will be guys who pop up and perform better than expected.  Maybe not enough to get them in the top half of the draft but right around where the Sox pick.  I suspect come draft time they will have a couple college arms in the mix.

You and everyone else.  I did hear he may throw in an Indy league which would be a good move on his part.

Can he sign as a FA like Barrett Loux?

Rocker didn't make his medical info available pre-draft so he can't become a FA.

DeLauter got his shit pushed in.  Tough matchup or not he's gotta be better than that.

Redshirt junior (and has already had TJS) but jeezus.

Is Brody Brecht a dude? I'm not used to my alma mater having any worthwhile draft prospects.

Oh yeah.  He's a dude dude.  He popped late last spring but teams still made a serious run at him.  He's going to be a fun one to follow.

Also not part of this class, but school me on Tommy White? Already 7 bombs as a freshman. Looking for reasons to get out to games in North Carolina.

I'm gonna have to get schooled on that guy myself.

Hunter Barco threw the crap out of it again tonight.  That guy checks a lot of boxes for the Sox.

How about Chance Huff at GT?  Velocity way up as a starter so far.

Huff was famous in HS.  Vandy recruits usually are.  He transfered to GT and I think this is his 4th year and it looks like he's finally starting to figure it out.  I'm not sure 4th year guys will be in the mix for 1-26 but he may be a good option in round 2-4.  Another good one to follow.
