Doubt he is walking away from a guaranteed 10 mil. Speaking of which, it may be even more than that, if he finds a way to somehow be healthy, AND suck:

2023 option increases $1M each for 400, 450, 500, 550, 600 plate appearances in 2022

Ha, I don't see Pollock ever hitting 500 PAs.

Pretty excited to say I'm going to the game today unless the plane crashes or United pulls their typical delay tactics. We've pulled away from the gate and the engines appear to be getting revved up t

  • For the record, I still hate the 10th inning rule regardless if we win this game or not.

Who was the pitcher for Kansas City a few years back who walked away after signing a nice contract because he realized he was done?

Gil Meche I think.

Yeah, at this point, we're 100% on the hook for 10 million on AJ next season. He isn't walking away from that.

Isn't there a $5 million buyout?

It's a player option. If he opts in, he makes $10 million.

A competent 2B probably gets to that ball.

Well, Eaton and Quentin were originally Dbacks and the only two NL guys who really succeeded in Chicago...why not another?

He's more like Alex Cintron right now.

Ick I had happily forgotten about Cintron.

"The Dodgers signed Pollock to a four-year, $55 million contract that included a player option for 2023. Pollock's deal also had an opt-out clause after the 2021 season, but he fell 11 plate appearances short of being able to exercise it. Over three seasons with the Dodgers, Pollock hit..."

11 PA's and we wouldn't have Pollock now.  Or he would be another team's problem in FA.  Dodgers got stuck with him but found a taker/sucker.

Cease looks like he's emptying the tank here.

There's no way the Dodgers wanted him to opt out after the season he had in 2021. It's not like he's super expensive.

Dylan losing it a little.

Better get the bullpen up TLR

This offense sucks so much I fell asleep twice in the first 4 innings.

Yet he could cost the White Sox $15 million next season...

$11-13 million looks more likely right now.

Cease just lost it in the middle of the Story AB.

Yeah you could feel this inning going poorly.

This is almost more boring than Twins/A's except for Cease.

That said, Parkman's guy Duran threw a 97 mph forkball today.  That used to be the speed of a Contreras fastball.

Even if the Red Sox get these other two runs in, Cease has pitched pretty well today. Can't win when you don't score.

They should have taken him out. He's done.

Going from what looked like it should be a 2-0 series lead to likely leaving Boston 1-2.

Sigh.  And the A's have only lost eight in a row.

Can't burn the pen so early every single game.

And he's the best pitcher on the team.

Nice tag from Yaz

Cease has turned into a very good pitcher, but he still has that one inning every game where he just loses it

Desperately needed that one.

HE GONE! Way to pitch out of that.
