You never want to lose a series with your best starter sitting in the dugout.

I’m really surprised at how hard I am rooting against Cleveland this series.  F Cleveland.

  • I've never seen a guy celebrate like he hit a walk off homer when his team was still down 1 in the middle of the game.

Guardians screwed by a rain delay with Civale on the mound could not be a more fitting ending

The rain tried to take them out of Civale starting but they still went with it.

Guardians just got porch'd twice in 2 innings hahaha

A couple of Yankee stadium specials might put this game to bed early.

Somehow feels less cheap when it's Stanton & Judge hitting them, at least

I think Judge's is a homer in a lot of stadiums. But Stanton's is more likely to be a double. It had a .820 xBA.

Stanton's HR would (according to statcast) have been a HR in 3 of 30 stadiums. I'm sure Judge's was a lot higher, you're right.

The Guardians have been blooping hits all series. It somehow doesn't feel cheap at all. I'll just call it even.

Gotta hit bombs to win in October. Good luck stringing together singles against pitching this good.

same story as it always has been.

That's the third time the Yankees have fucked up on a ball hit like that.

Well when you can just bloop hits and have them fall like that, who needs homers?

I should have factored in that defenders inexplicably forget how to catch bloopers when the Guardians hit them.

Huge missed opportunity for the Guardians there

Cortez lost his rhythm with the injury. Ramirez had to come up with a hit there.

Holy s%*# he's so safe ?

Is Francona trying to throw the game? First he starts Civale and now he won't challenge a clear safe call at first.

That was one of the "little things."  They should really try to do that the right way.

TLR vibes from Francona missing an obvious challenge opportunity like that

That is on the replay crew as well, but as a manager you gotta be more alert there.

It's crazy how many good relievers the Guardians have. They have 5 relievers who were worth at least 1 fWAR this year. The Sox had just 2.

Yankees' hitters 20/76 and 725 ops against Civale coming in.

Still, you have to figure out a way to get your best pitcher on the mound instead of your fourth or fifth starter.

Between that, on the road, and Naylor, felt like a loss from the get go.  Still not over with a very shaky Yankees' but close.

Their bullpen is 5-6 deep with guys Francona can trust. Instead he went with the guy who hadn't pitched for 2 weeks with a 5 ERA on the season. It was a bad decision.

That's exactly how it would have looked if you dropped this years Sox lineup into the playoffs. Lots of empty contact, not much else.

0 extra base hits, 1 walk, but at least they ran hard to 1st base.
