If Pedro Grifol can get this group of often-injured free-swinging Prima Donnas to play good baseball, he'll deserve to be manager of the year

I don't want to start on a negative note with the guy, but i do think it's a bit telling that the sox floated nicky lopez by him and he said we should explore. Especially considering he couldn't get nicky to hit at all.

Was that before or after he was announced?

Well before

I never wonder what a vafan thread is about going in

I am a fan of 7 words or less for the title of any thread. MAKE THREAD TITLES GREAT AGAIN!

Most of the Royals couldn't hit. I like Pedro. I think he was a good hire. But if they think he and his coaching staff alone are going to make these guys so much better, Pedro is going to have an impossible job. I guess if you don't want to spend and no team will give you a bargain in a trade, its all thats left.

Needs to still be 7 paragraphs long though.

There is no way you're under 70.

I am.  But what difference does that make?

Seems like people latch on to my hot dogging comment.  It's the least important thing I wrote.  If they play well and stay healthy, they can hot dog all they want.  But they seem to think they are good when in fact most of them are bad in multiple ways.

You might, since I was the exact opposite before the beginning of last year.

Someone said last year's team "broke me."  It's an apt description.  Sox fan since 1970. Last year wasn't close to being the worst season. The Sox have had too many years of being awful.  But it was up near the top in terms of disappointing seasons.

I just find it very hard to root for guys who don't seem to even care about playing good baseball.  Baseball should start in your head so that you maximize your talents instead of wasting them.  I mean, WTF happened to Yoan Moncada?  Why doesn't Tim Anderson learn that he could be so much better and healthier than he has been?  Luis Robert is built like a god. Why can't he stay healthy?  When is Eloy going to realize his potential for a full season? Why does Giolito's performance yoyo so drastically?  Can Aaron Bummer finally harness his amazing stuff?

You just have to lower expectations. When Luis goes out you will be glad Eloy worked hard on his fielding. Sheets too.
