I certainly like the idea of Rainer more then Cam Smith. Loved the blurb about the White Sox being focused on upside and ceiling though. This is the way.

I was very against Caglianone until this post…now I am all in

  • I don't hate him, but I would say the worst pairing in the world would have to be Wetherholts soft tissue and the chicago white sox.

  • I would not draft a college 1b. It’s not just Vaughn and Torkelson.  There’s also Pavin Smith, Nolan Schanual made to the majors but he’s not gonna be an impact bat.  Jacob Berry looks like a bust.  R

There is a lot to like about this guy.  He has a very simple swing and strong loose hands.  He has a chance to do A LOT of damage.

I would be pretty pleased with this pick. I also imagine that it would come in underslot and the Sox would save a lot of money.

Good Get (GG)

We must be talking to the dawgs out there. Was getting my tires rotated this weekend on the ol Wrangler and heard the same chatter about Smitty here. Sox had their top hitting guy in to see him last week and he's a fan.

Hearing Cam Smith could be in the mix too.

Wrong thread.

I enjoyed watching this podcast today. Jim Callis covers the draft toward the end, but most of the first hour covered the farm system with some depth but easy to follow and appreciate even if you don’t follow the minors closely like many fans (including me).

Will try to follow more this season, hope to find more breakdowns of the MiLB season and then post draft coverage by FutureSox.

My Apple phone (7) is apparently too old to buy the “at bat milb package”, so sadly passing because I don’t feel like being tethered to a PC in the Summer.

MLB never makes it easy to consume product, be it TV or online.

Thanks for checking it out. We appreciate it. Follow @FutureSox on Twitter as Ian will tweet out highlights all season.

You know I love me some Braden Montgomery but I'm starting to suspect that just maybe the college baseball is a wee bit juiced.  Call me crazy....

Preciate it.

Brecht isn't pitching well and he's getting crushed by the data guys.  Maybe he can their 2nd round pick.  Wish I was kidding.

And thanks for noting Cespedes was released in another thread.

@DirtySox, knew as well, you were right, thank you. I didn’t see his release posted on his milb page.

Waited back real nice on that one

My goodness - knock on wood - this seems like a year where we should get someone pretty damn good at 5. Love top end of this draft. Whether it’s Smith (who is nasty on the mound) or Montgomery or Cam Smith or any of the others.
