Ouch!

Mario Camilletti promoted to WS and activated today.

Not an inspiring start for Gonzalez 0-2. Swinging bunt and a pop up by the pitchers mound. Kanny leads 1-0.

Elko with another oppo HR

Elko oppo taco!

Patino with an interesting showing in Charlotte.

Walks the leadoff guy in the first. Gets three outs on weak contact to follow.

Walks the leadoff guy in the second. Weak flyout, K, pick off to end the inning (nice throw to 1B by Lee).

Walks the leadoff guy in the third. GIDP, BB, pop out.

Walks the bases loaded in the forth. Allows a run on a sac fly, a single reloads the bases, but he gets another GIDP to strand them.

4IP, 1ER, 1H, 1K...7BB.  Sac fly and single were the only balls hit hard. For what it's worth, it's an ABS day in Charlotte today so no benefit from framing, but a good number of the misses weren't particularly close anyway.

Knights lead 3-1 on a Sanchez 3R HR.

Seby is on a rehab assignment, so I'd expect him back soon.

Montgomery hit a rocket to left for a ground rule double.

Quero drives him in.

Drew McDaniel left early with an apparent injury. Seemed visually like he was indicating towards his side, but Gameday says ankle.

Popeye double, Ramos single, Veras double that was a foot from a HR. 4-1 Barons.

Mena gives up an unearned run when Ramos makes a bad throw past 1B and the runner gets to second and then scores on a ground rule double.

Popeye leads off the next inning with his own ground rule double. Ramos drives him in. Veras hits a double off the wall to score Ramos. Barons up 4-1 and still threatening.

Mena done 6IP 5H 2R 1ER 1bb 6K. Continues a nice run of starts for him.

Mena in August: 24.2IP across 4 starts. 7ER, 26K, 7BB. 2.55 ERA.

Man, if he keeps this up...

Also leads the Barons with 114 IP after tonight's start. Guessing he ends the season around 130ish IP (three series left after this one, so three more starts) which is super encouraging as well.

Move Mena up to AAA along with Ramos

He's been a fantastic pitcher to follow since his debut in Kanny. I will continue to pray that he finds an extra gear on his fastball and ascends to become a top of the rotation monster.

Barons broke it open in the 9th, now leading 10-2.  1-6 in that line up is tough.  Everyone contributed. Most impressive tonight probably Veras, Elko, and Ramos.

Barons bats add on late with a fun little bat around to put the game away

  • Womack flyout
  • Tatum BB
  • Popeye single (should have been a double, but he stopped at first)
  • Montgomery catcher's interference
  • Ramos pop out
  • Veras 2B (of course), 2 RBI
  • Wild pitch scores Montgomery
  • Quero walks
  • Elko RBI single
  • Mieses RBI single
  • Womack K

Nice to see Popeye making good contact again after cooling off a bit in the last series. Veras' double was his 2nd of the night, and 10th in his 14 games at AA.

All of our top prospects are easy to root for because they are like those kids at the science fair that you know had zero help from their parents but still did a pretty good job.

W-S is getting beat 17-1.  I blame the new GM.

This is all I could think about. Except Homer actually helped Lisa with the costume. Which probably isn't too far off analagy-wise with the pitching development.
