That will happen with Thome when his son graduates high school in three years

Changing the jersey name from Thames to Thome should be cheap. Jerry will be pleased.

Per Jimmy on Twitter, sounds like Marcus Thames will be announced as the hitting coach.

Definitely like the idea of the younger guys with recent MLB experience.

Glad they are expanding the coaching staff as well. Boston covered OF, first base and baserunners last year. The overall coaching staff was contracted by IIRC 2 or 3 after Tony’s departure.

Need Getz, staff and players to be on the same page. Make sure Pedro and the staff know the goal is to identify and develop talent, not the contend now bullshit said (possibly instructed to say by Hahn / Boyer) last year.

Need to give guys who didn’t produce but possibly can like Colas one more legitimate chance to improve, not bring in guys to establish “clubhouse culture”, while sacrificing player development to “win now”. Start with a clean slate in AZ and go from there.

He hasn't played since 2015?!? I feel old....again.

Marcus Thames

New York Yankees

After the 2015 season, the Yankees dismissed Jeff Pentland as their hitting coach, promoted Alan Cockrell, their assistant hitting coach, to replace him, and promoted Thames to the role of assistant hitting coach.[23] After the 2017 season, the Yankees dismissed Alan Cockrell as their hitting coach and promoted Thames to hitting coach.[24] His contract was not renewed for the 2022 season.[25]

Miami Marlins

On November 17, 2021, Thames was hired by the Miami Marlins to serve as the team's hitting coach for the 2022 season.[26]

Los Angeles Angels

On November 7, 2022, the Los Angeles Angels hired Thames as their hitting coach for the 2023 season.[27]

Why did  he leave the last two after just one year?

Marlins hired Skip after 2022, and presumably he brought in his own guys. The Angels are similarly changing regimes after moving on from Nevin.

Ahhh.  Thanks.
