They currently have a 14.70% chance of landing that top pick in the draft. The only positive of the horrendous 2023 campagn are the increased chances of landing a premier talent.

Let's hope they get the 7th pick since this 2024 team will be worse.

Likewise, put me firmly in the camp of rooting for the 7th (or later) pick for round 1

So how does this stupid rule work again? If the Sox land top 5 this year they can’t pick top 10 next? Does it impact the later rounds too?

It doesn’t. If the White Sox have a top 6 pick this year and they finish with the worst record in baseball next year, they’ll have the 11th pick in round one in 2025 and the #1 pick in every other round

A major problem with their recent drafts is they were drafting too low in each round.

The problem is they keep taking the wrong guy.  They may have had buyers remorse faster on Gonzalez than they had it with the lil guy.
