Personally, I think the guy is a nutjob. Any professional athlete who talks about themselves in the third person ("Flash has proven he can close again") needs some therapy. I really don't think he's as good as he thinks he is, and I don't think he's as good as the dollar signs he wants. His numbers weren't stellar, besides his Ks/9 and the position of closer is highly overrated. Not to mention what's to say he won't succumb to injuries once again. Personally, I think the Sox should let him go to the highest bidder and go after a guy like Kline, Hawkins, or someone else.

All signs point to Flash stayin if Koch is shipped out to the Mets. Hawkins will be a Yankee, they'll bid very highly for him afta what he did to them in game 1 in the ALDS at the Bronx.

Hawkins will probably cost more than Flash. I'd like to see Flash back, but for no more than 3 mil per season.

He was a stud this season. I know we won't get him, but I'd love to see him here.

Flash can and should close this season. Though I doubt it will be with the sox. I see Damaso getting an opporunity to prove just how dominant he can be.

 

The guy I really wanna see groomed for the role is Danny Wright. I think he showed he has the right mentality to come out of the pen. Now if he can only get the Eric Gagne type stuff to go along with it.

If they can deal Koch, then I'd like to see Hawkins and Sully back along with a veteran like Osuna or Chad Fox.

I think I've said this before but the Sox would only overpay for Hasegawa's services. There is no way he can put up numbers like that again.

I for one don't want Flash in a Sox uni next year. If he is, that means that KW overpaid for a surgically repaired arm teetering on the brink of falling apart. Gordon wants way too much for his services, and if Koch is here next year, and Marte is here, no reason to spend that money on Gordon

I agree with you, and for the very reasons you mentioned. There is a better than average chance Flash could break down again.

If Botch is here and Gordon isn't then KW better get someone here to close games because Botch is done. Unless KW is gonna go with Danny Wrong or Marte as closer and acquire a stop-gap/cheap BP arm to fill the hole left by Flash.

If they are lead in the right direction, they can be great for the team. Carl did not hurt us this year. I think we do need some new personality on this team.
